Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

"Frost on.

Lever off."

Weak as [censored].

Melbourne supporters and David King having a go at Frost....then the guy is in our best most weeks since.

We are so stupid.  Remember when we thought Watts was the epicentre of all our ills?  Ditto Howe and Dunn.

NFI.

Does he really...  or is it more he has an issue with composure,  maybe more-so,  which can cause him to make mistakes,  and do the

occasional wrong thing, out of mild panic.  They both panic, imv...  but OMc's panic area is hidden undercover and he equally,  makes mistakes.

One is the Energizer battery man,    the other is an AFL Sloth, to this point.

Frost creates more on offense,  imo.

I think they will both improve in time,  with better players supporting.

.

Frost is an athlete more than a footballer, however he has improved his football over the last 4 or 5 weeks. Blicavs at Geelong was similar, then really thrived when he was given a set job each week and eventually he became a good footballer not just a gifted athlete. I'm hoping Frost can do the same, I agree they will only get better with better players around them but if Frost continues to lose where the ball is or run off his man and get caught in-between the play then I'm afraid the better players could lose trust in him.

Hore looks like an AFL player. Needs to keep working on his disposal and lack of size/pace means he's not the ideal match up for a lot of opponents but he judges the ball in the air, gets to the right spots and his decision making with the ball is solid.

The only concern that could see Hore not playing a lot of games is if Lever takes his role and 2 intercept marking defenders can't play in the same side but I doubt that's the case.

At this stage I want to see a backline of May, Lever, Hore, Jetta, Salem, Hibberd. Until we get that group on the field together it's hard to know exactly who the best 7th player is to go with them.

Frost is still Frost but I think he's also looking like an AFL player right now with a decent amount of spoils, running out of trouble more than in to it and kicking better than he has before. The question is more does he look good because we've got some pretty slow and average defenders next to him or is he really turning a corner.

Unfortunately, I cannot see Neville returning and contributing in any meaningful way this year. Insert "sad face". Given Lords age we really do need to be developing a small/ish defender to play on the likes of Betts, CC, Ryan, Rioli x 2 etc

Both are a big keep for me. Maybe we cannot fit all of Frost, Lever, May and Hore in the same backline but how often are they all fit and vying for a spot. OMac is probably the one to miss but think he should be given a go forward before writing him off or trading him

Agreed...  but I would look to kick to a pack where Frost was lurking, rather than OMc say.

IMO Frost offers so much more than OMc...  winning the footy in contests.     OMc kills contests,  rather than changing them to advantage.

I still would keep OMc,  but hasten his maturity more at VFL level,  hopefully for the remainder of 2019.

Frost can be trusted to go with players and contest and rebound as well.   I've never seen OMc run and carry the footy,  with any offensive haste.

I think Frost at this stage,  can become a weapon...  Not saying forever,  maybe for a couple of years,  until he is overtaken by another.

OMc has just turned 23Yrs.  He will start to fill out soon.

I think a couple of seasons at Casey as a defender,  can help him develop further...   as he came in very young, which might have stymied his defensive 'craft'.     'May',  will be good for 3+ Years... saving injury.

... there  Ya go.   I fitted in one of those recent  'funky'  words.   How did that sound..

Stymied or Craft?  Both on point.  I agree with your analysis of O Mac. He has done his best in a very difficult role. Still lots of upside with experienced big men around him.

I think Frost has a lot of good weapons, but it's being able to trust him each week that is an issue. Some call them brain fades, but it's his lack of awareness and footy IQ that's his biggest issue. However, given a job or surrounding him with quality leaders can overcome that and make him a better player. I actually could see OMac playing fullback (with May, Hore and Lever in front of him in a zone,  so not on specific players), while Frost either has a shut down role on a tall or even goes forward to tag players like Rance, McGovern etc. being told to stick with them, compete in the air but then take off out the back and either drag them away from the play or try and sneak in a goal or 2 getting separation with his speed.

it's almost as if Frost's body is quicker than his brain, you never know what he's going to do next. Truly an excitement machine.

Speed is a weapon worth retaining though.

Most people agree Rance and McGovern are the 2 best key defenders in the game.. but both of them have a strong supporting cast. Rance has Grimes and Asbury. McGovern has Barass and Hurn.

I think we hope Lever will grow into the number 1 man for us. Having Frost and May be that supporting cast is exactly what he needs. Hore, Jetta and Hibbard as medium/smalls around them is the making of a really strong back 6. At least on paper.

Then with Salem and Fritch able to play up the ground and float back as needed. Omac and Wagner as depth players. Petty given more development time. The backline personnel isn't a big concern right now

Not sure it is a real quick brain. Has a bit of Harry O madness about him.

I agree I can see Frost pinch-hitting as a defensive forward,  under the right circumstances.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
