Security should not allow opposition supporters to stand behind our Cheer Squad and taunt them. The Hawks supporters do this every year. That kind of behaviour leads to violent incidents.

If the Melbourne supporter couldn't deal with someone (whether disabled or not) knocking his beer out of his hand without resorting to violence, he's an embodiment of a cultural problem we have. 

If your response is "who cares", you're not helping.

How can you tell what is going on in his mind, apart from contempt at some level... and what about the other persons mind,  and what he did for this to occur...  was he being malicious ?  and did he deliberately do something to the person caught on film.?

I don't know and I'm sure you don't as well.

Read my previous post. They showed it on seven news tonight. Interviewed the mentally disabled hawks supporter and others at the incident.

The bald demon supporter repeatedly called him a [censored] [censored] and [censored] [censored]. This lead to the mentally retarded hawks supporter knocking the beer out of his hand. Bald bloke then belted and kicked him when down. Absolutely disgraceful.

Anyone on here not condemning this behavior or having a go at the mentally handicapped hawks victim needs a ban and to reassess their values.

What our supporter did was very wrong.

Having said that our supporters are usually very well behaved.

Hawthorn, North Melbourne, Bulldogs, Port, Essendon, Hawthorn, Geelong and Fremantle all appear to have bigger problems with supporter violence than us from what I have seen.

Hawks supporter is visibly disabled so there is no mistaking the fact.

No matter what may be going on in his personal life I don't care what was said or done to him it's a  mitigating circumstance not an excuse for his actions.

I don’t care about being outraged over the incident as I don’t know the full story, nor do you, is what I meant. I like to know the full facts before I turn full SJW.

Agree with you on all but the last point. Knocking a beer out of someones hand at the footy should get you banned for at least a few matches. This said if the person has a mental disability and was being abused which led to their response then I think this would be mitigating factor in determining whether to ban the player. 

The MFC support should be banned, charged with assault, attend counselling and spend time with victims who's lives are permanently affected by being punched on the head. I don't support life bans for people who make poor choices if they cop their whack and learn from them.

Was just about to post the same thing from Hawthorn Fan TV.

I'm not convinced this guy in the innocent victim he's been portrayed as. Doesn't make the violence right, but the verbals might've been flying from both sides and the physical contact was started by the Hawks fan.

His family might want to have a word about losing with dignity and not putting himself in situations that could escalate.

This interview shows he's actually rather articulate and has the capacity for quite a lot of footy knowledge. Maybe not a hapless victim.

The fights I have seen at the G and Etihad have without exception been started by drunken tossers who would be knocked into next week if they picked on someone their own size or they have been perpetrated by cowards in groups.

I always feel uncomfortable sitting among supporters who are drinking, something which is hard to avoid when attending our replacement games because of the large crowds. Alcohol free areas should be increased at the ground, no matter how unpopular that move may be. Alcohol leads to these unsavoury and dangerous incidents. Going to the football should be about watching the football and supporting your team, not drinking all day and becoming agitated and turning violent because of opposition supporters . If someone is being unsociable report them to security. There is a number which is advertised on the scoreboard to report unacceptable behaviour, or find the nearest ground staff or security worker to deal with the problem. They are there to do a job, which is security. Make them earn their pay. Violence is not the answer, even if provoked. 

On another note, this year I have noticed a slip in the keeping out of opposition supporters in our reserved seats. The workers at the gates seem to be more relaxed in their observation of this. We have had to call them to move on various opp. supporters who were causing trouble in our area, and some even waltzed in carrying beers and sat down in what was obviously a Melbourne only area. The attendants used to be much more strict. Even when I left to go to the ladies I was asked to show my membership card when I wanted to return to my seat. Now it seems fairly slack. This is disappointing, because this can lead to confrontations. Everyone needs to lift their standards in their jobs. In the first quarters of games, two security guards do a little patrol of our area and then you never see them again. In past years they would pass through frequently. Perhaps there has been cutbacks. If so, this is an area where there should not be.
