Closest to pin, how many inside 50s for us on that tiny ground next week?

90 and we kick 8 goals 8 behinds

sydney have 30 inside 50s for 22 goals 5 behinds

Stick fat. Took a week for mids to get going, forward line looked better this week. Backline will take a while. I know everyone's freaking out but until Lever and May are back they won't drop Oscar, maybe Frost for getting pushed off too easy. But he's an angry unit and has improvement in him.

I know this opinion is against the grain, but we saw last year that it's a marathon with Goody and the boys. Lockhart shows something, Tracc was way better. Viney showed mongrel moments. Jones will get going. Stick fat and trust.

Edit: spelling and support for Jones and Viney

TMac to the backline this week to play on Buddy.  And he might need to stay there until we get May and Lever back.

I agree with Tmac to backline until May returns. We should put Keilty and Weid there with a small forwards.

Jones is right on the edge of been told to take a rest.  If he plays, put him forward.  Far too slow in the middle.

Imo it largely won't matter who we pick as they will not increase the skill level above Friday night. We will only show better results when the likes of VDB and Lever return. Until then we will get more of the last five games. However I would try Keilty and / or Preuss, we need someone in the forward line who can stand their ground and take a grab.

I really don't get this 'last five games' bizzo. Since when are we counting pre season? Also, if you're not seeing this as a journey, to be enjoyed and taken with all the ups and downs, you haven't been paying attention. Simon Goodwin knows what it takes; none of us do here. Unless someone here wants to put forward their 200+ games and two premiership medals?

You don't need to to have killed someone to know how to commit murder ADD.

Practise matches show form is important as it shows up the same problem as the last three matches.

What they show is we have been doing the same things for 5 games in a row.

If we keep doing it next Thursday that will be four games and two practise matches before that. Surely that shows you there is a theme to be very concerned about.

As for the wonder coach the buck stops at his desk.

The problem with taking the ups and downs is it  has been 95% downs for the last half a century, it is almost like the way we are performing this year is in our DNA, a little success one year then crap the following year.

I know mate, it's been a long time. But no, it's not in our DNA. Footy has changed massively in the last year, let alone 5, let alone 20, let alone 55. This time last year the same questions were being asked. It's the same thing, let's wait and see where the year takes us before throwing in the towel. It'll be worth it in the end, as you well know OD, having had the patience that you have so far ✊?

Only twice in the last thirty years has the side that lost the first three games played finals.

Ominous record to break when we have such poor form and a long injury list that will not improve much in the next month. I looked at the fixture today and the only game I have any confidence we will win before the break is the GCS game. Start thinking 2010 for finals and hope like hell when we get those injured back    we can have a more pleasurable second half with a few wins.

B: JETTA, FROST, HIBBERD

HB: SALEM, PETTY, FRITSCH

C : HARMES, OLIVER, STRETCH

HF: PETRACCA, T.SMITH, C.WAGNER

F: MELKSHAM, WEIDEMAN, LOCKHART

FOLL: GAWN, VINEY, BRAYSHAW

IC: JONES, HUNT, KOLODJASHNIJ, J.WAGNER

I take it you mean "start thinking 2020".

Sure, but those of us who are old don't want to wait, even for a year. I have lost 4 family/friends Demon supporters in the last few years who died living in hope since 1964.

He needs 2 go 2 Casey & learn how 2 play smart team footy not kick long 2 a contest  every time. He shouldn't be captain.

Correct 2020. I have the same problem as you but the stark reality is 2019 is already spent. Until we get a few of the injured back we will not win games against most of the competition. The sad reality is even with those back it is not a GF winning squad. Like you and many others a flag will not happen until we are in the ground.

Whilst I would like to drop about 10 of them I realise this is not going to happen as Casey playing today does not allow enough time for recovery if someone has a blinder. Also seeing I have settled down from Friday night I reckon minimal changes as we need some continuity.Take into account the crap umpiring (decisions there favour close to goal) and that most of our players are crap at moment we still only lost by 3 goals. Some upside for us ( I hope)

Drunkn reporting no Preuss at Casey - possible in?

Or injured?

Need to drop Jones for Stretch. No point playing Jones on the wing as it’s not his position and he can’t play the role. If his been pushed out as an inside kid then so be-it. Time to move on.

Mate they are not going to drop an AFL captain. Its never happened in AFL history and never will.

Some of you are so thick not to realise that.

Time to make the toughest decision and drop Jones. His time is up.

I agree essentially. However.. apparently it's a no-no and this is why you get stuck in the quicksand. There's a legitimate dilemma though, as much as ol Jonesy's becoming a liability... who's bashing down the door or fit enough ? Catch 22

Pruess definitely being held over for Thursday and Stretch and Hore stayed on the bench for the entire first quarter. Casey is playing worse than the seniors. Slow, cannot hit a target, badly beaten on the outside and very few who look like they will press for senior selection

Reality is, Stretch and Maynard only 2 who’ve done anything

During WW2 the RAF lost all its experienced career pilots and squadron leaders within weeks of hostilities. Later on there were squadron leaders that were only 18-19 years old running the show and doing a heroic job. However it is easier to replace leaders due to attrition. Difficult to shoe horn out current encumbents due to pecking order and political considerations even if they are totally ineffective and over the hill without pain. Takes courage to make the big call and we will never know who can truly lead when opportunities are denied.  Successful clubs make the ruthless decisions when they have too. We are leaving it a little late.

The last time a player at Casey had 17 tackles he was selected in the AFL side the next week.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
