Essendon changes:

In - Zac Clarke, Kobe Mutch

Out - Mitch Brown, Kyle Langford.

Good news is no Hooker.

Bad news is Clarke is coming in to partner Bellchambers to run Gawn off his feet, per Port game. What's our answer to this?

Clark and bellchambers are both hopeless with the ball, let them play 2 like that if they want, it's to there own detriment

With Zac Clarke in we should have brought in Keilty/Preuss to allow Tom and Sam to stay forward.

Very strange move to me.

Billy apparently played a great game last week and can't get a run but ANB stays in.

I really don't get it.

Bit disappointed Keilty wasn’t picked this week, thought he was a real chance for his debut

Where the F is Preuss???????????????

FFS what’s the point in getting him if we ain’t gunna select him.

Agree Drunk'n. With Clarke in it really doesn't make sense to me.

Got me stuffed too.

 J. Wagner in frees up Hibberd/Hunt/Kolo to play more wing-time I suppose.

Not really, just a swap for May as the 3rd tall so no difference really.

Quite happy with the in's this week.

The key things I think Josh Wagner certainly offers is hardness and good defensive intent.  He is also quite quick and willing to take that game on creatively by foot.

I thought Cory Wagner was pretty stiff to be dropped from our Rd.1 performance to be honest.  Won enough of the ball as a defender and I thought his use of it was pretty good too.

Lycett and Ryder > daylight > Bellend and Clarke

Nothing against the 2 wagners but Kielty should have got a run. If we loose and petracca, Weed and anb play poorly this week they should be dropped. Find form at casey.

I definitely wouldn't be listing J Wagner and quick in the same sentence. I guess we all see it very differently.

He’s not even an emergency either

Most sides are now playing two ruckman except for us. What gives?

Disappointed Garlett is playing VFL when we are crying out for a small forward.  Players with lots of pre-seasons behind them come straight back in.  Numerous examples of this around the league.  Doesn't compute.

Team selection does my f.........n head in.

Whats the definition of insanity again????

We had Omac + Frost and Fritsch/Gawn as intercept last year. Why are we going Omac + Frost and May as intercept?

Lever will come in and May will be lock down. 1 of Frost/Omac is superfluous to our needs long term, but we should still be going with Fritsch or Gawn dropping back. Having J Wagner as 3rd tall isn't really enough.

Both Wagners have pace and intensity, something we have lacked.

I like Sparrow but he has had a taste now and needs to come back when he is ready to play his natural position as a rotating midfielder.

ANB has to perform this week but will be more suited to a forward line with hunt’s electric pace and dry conditions.

Pruese is interesting because if we keep bombing it forward we may as well have a big target there, be it he or Max. However, the ball is being taken out of our forward line with such ease I couldn’t justify playing another tall that isn’t quick.

There seems to also be a lot of talk about May and Petracca being unfit for AFL level. I’m guessing Pruese would love to have the tank of either of those two. Albeit he is probably glad he is not as fat as Petracca.

Agree with you but just from last weeks game, May started on Ablett with Frost and Oscar on the talls. Wagner will be coming in to play a similar role.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
