Spargo did nothing wrong

Also did very little right.

He's too small to play AFL, there have been others/are others at a similar height but they can stick tackles. He gets run over way too easily. Clever player but at VFL level for now.

if KK does well tomorrow he can go straight in.

Going by how Viney ran out the game, they might give him a few more weeks at Casey to build his fitness base before we rush him back in.  But I'm looking forward to having him in the side.

Obviously May comes in for either Frost or Oscar.  Take your pick of them really.  Do we have anyone else to come in?  Do we go with Preuss at GMHBA when we know Gawn only has Stanley to contend with?  Does someone like Stretch potentially get a gig?  Who knows.

FB: Jetta  May  Hibberd
HB: Hunt  Petty  Salem
C;  Jones  Oliver  Fritsch
HF: Spargo  T Mc  Petracca
FF: Melksham  Weid  Lockhart
Foll: Gawn Oliver  Harmes
Int:  J. Wagner,  C. Wagner,  Viney, Sparrow

Out: Oscar, Frost, Hore, ANB
In: May, Petty, J Wagner, Lockhart

The 3 taller defenders were all absolute witches hats. Get rid of them. Hopeless. I don't want to bring in J Wagner but he has to be better than Hore and I don't think KK is ready.

Not too much to be done with the midfield except hope they improve. Viney should find match fitness. Jones was actually playing ok until his awful last quarter. Maybe KK comes in here or maybe Oskar Baker but for now leave as is.

Forward line: tempted to overhaul with Keilty or Preuss for Weid as well as making multiple changes to the smalls. But I'd back Weid in rather than go with an underdone Preuss. ANB has to go though, complete liability who doesn't want to win the ball. C. Wagner and Sparrow both looked equally effective (or ineffective) as pressure forwards, keep them in and try either Lockhart or Chandler. Someone with some skill and craft.

Hard to know on Viney. Next game he could tear it apart. It may just to dust off the cobwebs. But I’m torn on him for next week. I actually thought he was on a treadmill in the third quarter. His legs seemed to moving but the body wasn’t.

I think Preuss stays out. The cats looked pretty quick last night.

Frost has to come out for May. Frost is a headless chook.

KK for maybe Hore. Although I thought Hore settled more in the second half.

I don’t think you can make too many changes after one game, but May is definitely one for Frost.

our 3 worst today were:

1. Jones: like seriously what the hell. I'm a jones fan but he was making mistakes your avg suburban player wouldn't make.

2. Gawn: smashed in the ruck. terrible around the ground. couldn't even run without hyper extending his knee. b

3. frost: got pumped by westhoff.

Hore is meh.

Is Smith likely to be Fit?? Shizzen player management in a meaningless JLT game to keep him on

DOH!

B: JETTA, MAY,  KOLODJASHNIJ

HB: HIBBERD, PETTY, SALEM

C : HARMES, OLIVER, FRITSCH

HF: C.WAGNER, J.SMITH, SPARROW

F: MELKSHAM, T.MCDONALD, HUNT

FOLL: GAWN, VINEY, BRAYSHAW

IC: PREUSS, JONES, NEAL-BULLEN, PETRACCA

OUT: WEIDEMAN, FROST, HORE, O.MCDONALD, SPARGO

On a miserly 5 changes not going overboard after a loss.

May, Preuss for Frost, Wagner

Lewis will be standard 21 Day hamstring recovery

Lewis would have been yet another witches hat.

May for Frost.

Preuss maybe but for whom?

Some are canning Weed but no worse than many others and is the future.

Jones and a Viney yet again brought back underprepared but that is now past history and should get another game.

In: May, Lewis (if fit)

Out: Frost, Hore

Dear god I cannot with Frost. He is legit the dumbest footballer I have ever seen. Must go.

Did I hear correctly that KK is playing VFL this weekend? If so, I’d love to see him in the side.

Worst KPDenders in the comp bar none!

VFL standard.

If Viney is not right we can’t afford to carry him again

He's allowed a crap game. I'm sure we will see a different Viney next week.

Frost out for May.

Re comments to drop all three of Oscar, Frost and Hoare, our defensive running in the midfield was poor (same as JLT) and they smashed us in inside 50's. I thought Hoare was decent and deserves a few games to settle to hopefully fill the Lever sweeper role for the first half of the season.

Tough game v Geelong on Saturday night but im backing us to have a real dip.

One of OMac and Frost goes for May. I vote Frost, but I don't care too much because they're both awful.

If Lewis is fit he comes back in for Hore, but I don't know if Lewis will be fit. I'd probably drop Hore anyway. Would love KK to be fit.

If Viney's genuinely not fit then he should stand up as a captain and declare it, and make way for someone else. Who? I'm not sure. There's not a lot to get excited about at Casey tbh.

Spargo deseves to be dropped but who replaces him?

We need to try out Preuss. Stanley beat Gawn once last year and did well against Grundy last night. I'm worried he and Ratugolea will get physical with Gawn again and he'll struggle.

A little bit over the top.  They had a bit of a stinker, but they certainly didn't look VFL standard in our elimination and semi finals.

Granted, I'd much rather May and Lever in there, but those two weren't helped by the lack of run and effort from our midfield today either.

I'm not expecting whole sale changes.

Out: Frost & Spargo

In: May & KK (assuming he gets through ok)

We brought KK in for his run and carry and we are crying out for that!

On the Melbourne website Goodwin indicated that Preuss will play after Gawn's shocker.

Wagner is VFL level. So is Frost.

May.

Lewis, Preuss if not still carrying injury.

PLEASE not Stretch. A genuine VFL player. Not up to AFL standard.

Oscar had 1 intercept possession today. You could literally stand still at CHB and at least manage 3. Plus he wasn't running freely by the end of the game. Whatever was wrong with his hip that needed surgery I'm not convinced it's suddenly right. He played on Schoenmakers and Jack Henry in the finals last year and as soon as he took on a half decent opponent he was crap. I'm struggling to remember a tall defender who has no strength, no speed and no ability to take a mark. Nor does he counter attack and run the ball out.

Frost did a good job on Hawkins in the elimination final but he was awful today. The thing about Frost is he just has no football intelligence at all. None.Plus a poor tank. As the season goes on and he builds his match fitness and gets in the rhythm of playing games he can be more useful but every time the season starts again he's all at sea.

These guys are both dreadful and we worry about which is worse instead of moving them both on and bringing in someone with upside.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
