To be honest, I don't really understand the need for preuss. Yes, he is a good ruckman but I don't want either of Gawn or Preuss resting forward. Neither of them can kick to save themselves and missed goals are so costly these days that anyone who isn't a good kick for goal shouldn't be in the inside 50m. Another reason why Petracca should never play deep forward.

Bit harsh on Max. Kicked some big goals in the finals.

Which bit? You think he is unsavoury? Or that he's rational and doesn't go on and on? Or both?

You think I'm going to waste more time discussing someone I have on ignore ?

Good one.

Can’t help but agree hw he has powerful legs which provide that burst and strength he is at his best one on one and has a good footy brain, hopefully he will continue to work hard and gain that continual improvement through to his hundredth game and beyond. I love his enthusiasm and joy in winning.

He is a smart customer and knows the game. Petrac is maturing at a nice pace.   Although his finals games was of a good standard his ball use was elite and linked up well and deserved to be out there. IMO is just around the corner from being an elite player.

BMI is a rather useless measurement for mesomorphic and beefy athletes.

It’s probably why skin folds is the main metric players are measured by.

Well said, McQueen and strongly supported - he certainly is not an ectomorph or an endomorph.

Skinfolds is why I didn't look into height by weight... for that very reason.   What you posted Re measuring the lean muscle mass,  is what I was trying to get to.

I used BMI as the word to describe what I wanted.

Simply 186 cms x 96 kgs_ is no correlation to 188 cms x 90 kgs_  Re lean muscle mass.

I'm looking for a true measurement to compare players in their endeavors for real fitness,   from across the internet.

At 23 Yrs of age, its high time this boy decided to become a man about his chosen career...  If he has a lean muscle mass the equal of Vanders...  then I will eat a hat.

He will never get as fit as a topline boxer, there are not too many footballers who would reach that level nor have there ever been.I take it you are assuming he is half-hearted about his football.

Aerobically he needs to step up.

I don't expect him to be as cut as a featherweight... but I do expect him to become an elite runner to compare with other low-end elite Mids.

I don't expect him to go with ANB...  but I do expect him the improve at least 10% on his last season Klms and workrate,  both ways.

He needs a wasp on his Arrzz.   when training, to get him moving beyond what he has been.   He's built in the mold of a bull... and he needs pushing, to work off that store of carbs he's carrying. even some of the meat/muscle...

He is carrying too much weight.

Here is a loose example of two past players.  One a half forward, who also played CHF and R/R.

Since we're lacking in opinion around here, here's my previously unexpressed one: I think Petracca became less effective last year in some core areas due to a loss of strength, specifically in shrugging tackles, marking one-on-one, and breaking through a pack up forward. Not sure if that's due to the opposition figuring him out or an already slimmed down physique, but I don't have any any concerns for the future as to Christian/the footy department arriving at his optimal role and then suitable matching weight.

So you say and I pay no credence to  what you say or think.

You may not remember his previous names here, but unsavoury was being generous...

In another thread someone mentioned 75% have him on ignore, I think I will make a plus one........I wonder at what stage he will realise he is talking to himself? I use to enjoy Uze Magics left field view point that invited alternative argument but this has become both tedious and irrelevant. Apologies for some of the bigger words I've used but I've always been a bit of a "smarty pants"

I'd like to know his [CP5] BMI.

CP5 - 27.7 -

TOMMC 26.6 - too fat? Try telling him that

MAX - 25.2

FROST 25.2

FRITSCH 22.9 - too skinny??

And what about Vanders ?

What about Chunk ?  What is Viney ?  What is ANB's ?

TMc's condition is working well for him.

Max' and Frosts condition works well for them.

Fritta is new to the comp, and is OK for 1st year.  I'm sure he will get more solid as he gets a couple more seasons in him.   But he won't want to be a power player.

That guy in the stars & stripes shorts can fight and I don't mean the Freddie Mercury look alike.

?  Thanks 'MD'. I just checked that video.

The big Butterbean goes OK... very entertaining.

your illustration supports being fitter aerobically to be elite.

The bigger guy isn't going to be elite... just going to get the payday of sorts, without the work.

No premiership for him, I reckon... watta you think ?

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
