I just watched Mitch Hannan's GOTY, and then re-watched it another eight times.  That used up three or four minutes!  ?

ps. the goal still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end, and the elation in the crowd still brings a tear to my eye.

Reason: That’s because Harmes and Jones are in the middle of the huddle showing off their tats to Garlett! ?

One of the more annoying losses last season was to Port at Adelaide Oval.  We had them on the ropes and fell asleep.   Crushing them in Round 1, 2019 would be very sweet.

Too early to start predicting crowd figures for Round 1? 40,000 plus would be a nice start.

Last year, due to our Rd 23 capitulation and the ensuing dejection, I mostly lost interest until trade week and even then my hunger for footy was pretty subdued.  This year, I was over the West Coast game before it was over, because we had already well and truly met and then somewhat surpassed my expectations for the season, so the antisipation of what we could do next season is like an adrenaline rush that is stopping me from getting to sleep, but there is still soo many sleeps until Rd 1 and it's taking forEVER!!

Maddening amount of time. The sense of release on the morning of 23 March is going to be fantastic. Great little counter (page).

Lol, as I scrolled down further on this page, I realized that @Demonland has already setup a counter on this site for our Rd 1 game, but also our first JLT game in 20 days time!

Can't wait.

With so many 'outs' (at this point of time) from the Port Adel side, it may well prove to be a cake-walk for us in Round 1. That is also particularly exciting as we were knocked off last year - and once again, an outcome of the snot umpires across the game that we dominated. Still, I expect the boys to go 'hell for leather' in this match with a carefully selected power team - setting a benchmark of what is to come across the 2019 season. Boy, we look good on paper, despite a few niggling pre-season injuries to some of our experienced players; the new-found depth is going to be critical - as well as being a competition nightmare to confront. As for the JLT, it will be great to see our recruits in action, weaving into the game style that Goody perpetrates and personally, I hope that it continues the collective run and assault that sets us apart. Ahhh ... the footy is only moments away ... Carna Dees!

  • PREGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

With their season all over bar the shouting the Demons head back on the road for the third week in a row as they return to Adelaide to take on the Crows. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
