Play of the Year - 2018

EF start of the third or last qtr I think when Viney hip and shoulders Selwood to his [censored] and gives away a free. Selwood then tries to play on and gets caught by Jack with his 57th tackle for the game and wins the ball back.

The @Clintosaurus just beat me to it, but Frosty's 65m barrel out of full back into the centre square which goes coast to coast for a goal (one of the finals, Vs Hawthorn I think);

And a few more that come to mind:

Frosty evades players at center half back and drills it onto Tommy Mac's chest for a converted shot on goal from about 40-45m out Vs GWS final round;

Frosty spinning away and then burning off Franklin was a rare moment of joy after quart time of that game.

Max Gawn snaps banana/checkside from the boundary X 2 Vs Essendon and then points to the twit Bummers fan that was mouthing off;

Max Gawn, sublimely taps it down the throat of our midfeild for practically perfect out of the centre clearance goal Vs the Dogs second time we played them.  We might even have got two goals in a row with this play.

Lewis's 2 X snaps from 50m Vs the Crows in Adelaide.

The huge bumps on our opposition in Hawthorn and Geelong finals from Nev, Vanders, Lewis and was it Hibbard?

Bernie's awesome hip and shoulder on Daisy Thomas.

... in fact practically the whole game Vs Carlton!

Selwood loosing his shiit and giving away that free kick to Melksham was soo very enjoyable to watch as well.

Jack Viney's the tackling machine's effort that whole game was absolutely sensational.  Has set a new standard for a player comming back from injury - take note Jake Lever!

Hannan down the wing for me. That was super

That was a great play and Hannan was reliably superb. However, with the footage so far, it is nearly impossible to separate any of the 'best plays'. Go Dees.

Not a top 10 candidate but an honourable mention to the “Can’t believe it, can’t believe, can’t believe it, cannot believe it” moment in the semi against Hawthorn.

Viney’s chase, Gunston’s poster then Sookily pooing the bed with a crap handball allowing Nibbler to run into an open goal. Momentum changer.

Viney's tackling was awesome. It is a great benchmark for the likes of Lever, in particular. When his leg is fixed, Lever needs to get into the gym to workout on his upper body strength so that he can hold on, with effect, like Viney and Clarrie have shown.

Who would have believed just two years ago that the players named above would have even been able to do this?

Must admit, I certainly thought that TMac would be a great forward - in the backline, despite all of his marking, mobility and kicking skills, he continuously heralded and exposed his kicking intentions. This is not such an issue in the deep forward line where he is poised to kick 80 goals a season (!).

As for Frosty, well, having seen a few early highlight reels from his early days interstate, he could have been everything, given time and opportunity. He is proving that now - a guaranteed hot onion clearance machine with enchilada habanero chilli  wheels to run, carry, dodge and lead a pack of defenders into hopeless chasing - and to enter the marking contests successfully from the side like Neitz used to - hot as hell as a CHB movement machine and feeder (his kicking is greatly improved both for passing and clearance distances) - particularly now that May is going to be the fullback, Hibberd and Jetta are going to feed-run as well, as will Salem with Lewis' backline steerage, and OMac is playing at Casey.

- hannans goal
- jones sealer
- Oliver's mid-air collision and collect against selwood.
- Gawn's boundary line snaps against essendon
-Weideman performance in finals
- Nad put in a brayshaw or clarry goal and a few jetta/hibberd desperation acts to complete the vid :)

This is great, keep the clips coming.

What about ANB’s sealer against the Crows in Adelaide? Most would have been able to breathe again after thinking it was almost the Geelong game all over again.

That was a beauty when you consider how many players started in front of him, how heavy his legs must have been after running all night in wet conditions then the mad 80m sprint, a slippery water logged ball and I believe there would have been some noisy demons in his head as he took his last few steps.'don't f this one up'

Super effort. I missed that goal live as the Crows getting within 7 or 8 points late in the game was enough for me to go and walk around the block until siren time.

If the training threads weren’t enough to whet the appetite, this thread certainly will.

Im not sure of the point in the game against the Cats in the EF but it was in the 1st quarter I think. It was a torrid piece of play, there is a loose ball on the outer wing and Biclavs is sprinting towards it. You see him look up and he takes a couple of short steps. van den Berg came at him like Roger the kangaroo and won the ball easily going through Biclavs like he wasnt there.

Jetta knocking Selwood on his [censored] in Final #1

Jetta knocking Mitchell on his [censored] in Final #2

both fair bumps, brilliantly and deliberately executed early in both games to set the tone.  Jetta found a new level in finals

There were so many, particularly in our two winning finals.

As a spectator at the ground, the most spine tingling and exhilarating play (when I caught a glimpse of footy heaven), was the Hannan run from the wing to goal. And re-watching it with BT's commentary wasn't bad either.
