Can we another pick inside the top 10 by trading our 2020 1st round pick? I wonder if any clubs have low expectations of us improving next year...

If we have pick 3 and are taking best available, and it's Gould. Then we can/should offload a defender like a Frost or OMAC as part of any kind of package with that 2020 1st round pick.

Then with pick 7-10 you get a speedy mid like a Dylan Stephens..

As polarising as Frost is, we cant afford to off load any quick players at the moment. we are so darn slow all over the field we need to keep the likes of frost and gawn. If we have a top 5 pick, I'm convinced we'll pick up Ash for this reason.

it's funny that wa won the champs but two vic metro and two vic country boys are expected (at this stage) to go top four in rowell, anderson, young, and ash

and you'd think green might attract a bid in the top 5 too

Same as the big leagues, if a draft was done on current players then I'd expect Cripps and Oliver would be right up there, whereas the reigning premiers probably wouldn't have a player taken in the top 10 (maybe McGovern). I like the idea of trading to get multiple good picks/players rather than going all out for 1 potential superstar.

i would think yeo, gaff, mcgovern wound all be taken before oliver, at a minimum

Whats your thoughts on Devon Robertson mate? I didnt get a chance to watch his game today but has been impressively consistent throughout the champs.

Another player we discussed today, he's an interesting one who has certainly raised his stocks after his carnival games. Tough call is was it a sign of an upward trajectory performing under pressure ir has he just put 4 good games together

I think the former but think he lacks real x factor, although if anyone can ever show me Simon Blacks Xfactor outside of having great vision and calmness under pressure(which many don't see as xfactor, but I do)

Robertson comes from a family of endurance athletes, I'd thought before this year he was very vanilla but he's developed a decent side step and acceleration in traffic,  which is a plus

I think he'll be a good player by all accounts he's a driven individual but I see him as pick 10+ at best. If as I expect we have pick 5-7 if all available in order I would take

Ash, Greene, Kemp, Young, Gould, Serong & Flanders.  I am ruling out Anderson and Rowell who will go top 2 or 3 if there's a late bolter.

Whilst I agree with you Bub, is this the right thread?

nupp...bloody phone..lol

Who has seen Corey Weightman play? If so, how good is he and where is he predicted to get picked up in the draft?

I was at the last two rounds of the championship.

He looked great in both games. One of those small forwards that give you the feeling something is going to happen whenever they're near the ball. Knows how to find the goals, is really clean and applies great pressure. It goes without saying he's the sort of player we need in our forward line.

No idea where he's projected to be drafted.

If we are in a position to land Anderson then that's a no-brainer. If we have picks 2 and 20ish then that should enable us to go for that 'forward with tricks' (right now I'd settle for a forward who can kick straight). And hope that Toby Bedford comes through as well as that lively forward who can eventually add speed through the mid-field.

Veey likely even if we have a pick 5 to 7.. I expect the likes of Anderson, Rowell, Serong, Young, Kemp to all feature around the top end mark.

i should’ve been more specific.. i wonder if we’ll go best available or for need.. cos i’m not sure a halfback is need atm. but if he and young can play mid too ?

I do not want WA or SA players. Too much of a go home factor for us. Big name Clubs are better at holding them than us.

Heard that and thought that's better than what could have been, good to see the WA boys get the win some really good kids from both sides, Jaxon Prior is one of our clubs boys, not up there with some of the other boys but comes from good stock.

Really liked the look of Serong and Ash from VC

which hole to plug first for the dees... looks like we're gonna end up with pick 3 now, maybe even 2 if blues can swing an upset? against the saints..

The Crows might lean towards one of the local SA kids with Carltons pick, so we might still steal Anderson or Rowell if we finish 16th?

No SA players are good enough to go top 5 this year, let alone pick 2.

After beating Carlton today we’ve probably missed out on Anderson now ? Who suits us best at pick 3? Ash? Kemp? Serong?

we will, likely, not win a game for the rest of the year and they should, in theory, beat gc17

we could finish bottom two yet!

Caleb Serong is a safe pick. Good skills and smart. Plays like Ben Ainsworth or Robbie Gray type.

Brodie Kemp is the special type. Fast. Athletic.  Reminds me of Dangerfield at times. Would be ready to go round 1 2020 imo

We're likely going to finish with pick 3-5 it seems. If we can't land Anderson, then it's out of Kemp, Serong and Ash for mine.

Kemp plays both forward and midfield, and he's a great size for either IMO. When in the midfield, is he far more inside? Could he be developed to be outside midfielder? He's certainly got pace and kicking skills, though with his size it would seem odd to wind up an outside midfielder. He's right at the top of our list though Id imagine, as he could improve our forward half and develop to be a gun mid in time.

Serong does seem a good safe bet as a small forward/midfielder. Definite Robbie Gray type, and would immediately improve our forward half. He's a quality footballer who just needs to build consistency and build his body.

Ash I'm not sure about. Definitely capable as a quick rebounding half back, but I haven't seem enough of him in the midfield to know whether he could be the outside mid we're crying out for. If he doesn't have scope to be a midfielder, then I'm not sure he's the best option, as our backline is well stocked compared to the front half.

In terms of potential, Kemp seems a level above. He needs to learn to find more ball, but he's got all the attributes to be a special player.
