Home games at the G vs Ess, Hawks, Tigers and Pies is huge for us financially.

Also huge for fans to see us play some really big games at the G.  Will be good for memberships.  Lots of good value games to watch - a few may be sell out games!

I will miss being able to turn up to the MCC members late and still get a good seat, though.

Disappointed the QB and Anzac eve games are both away. It would have been good to alternate 1 as a home game each yr.

It think it was just the timing of ANZAC eve and the decision of Pies to no longer help us out. The flip is 2020 both will be home games.  Plus we do play them as a home later in the year.

We don’t have a bad run home after the bye.

Very tough last 5 games though.

But an advantage of playing other contenders is winning against teams competing for top 8 ladder position, and potentially top 4.

Lots of 8 point games!

Why is the Round 5 game against St. Kilda at 4:35pm on Saturday when we have the 4 day break before the ANZAC day game?

FFS AFL get your [censored] together. Why is this game not at 1:20pm? Not that it make a huge difference but come on.

It will be interesting to see how we approach the Saints game in terms of personnel. We would have to go best 22 available for the Saints game you would think and hope our recovery team have the boys ready to go 4 days later for a huge game.

And from the AFL site...

"COLLINGWOOD will be the darlings of prime time next year, with the Magpies handed 11 blockbusters matches following the release of the official 2019 AFL Toyota Premiership Season Fixture.

In addition to the annual Anzac Day and Queen's Birthday matches, the Pies will feature in two Thursday night games and seven Friday night games throughout next season."

Such a level playing field ....

That will be the 8 th game of the year not in Melbourne. Yes I know NT are 2, but that is very disappointing for Victorian fans, who want to see their team play live, without the extra expense of travel and in the case of Geelong, it’s probably sold out anyway, as it’s their first home game.

wow... an incredible situation

I like it! should be 70K+ against the bombers. potential for that and more if all of us, pies and rich still going strong at the back end of the season. loads to watch on tv. might meet my WCE mate in NT. bring it on!!

Why doesn't he AFL leave the extra game out for the 4 teams in ANZAC and either previous or after and then catch it up during the bye round? China too) similar to the EPL, where a team could have played a game less/ more than those around them?

Pies 5 interstate to our 7, plus we also get Geelong.

We don't do too badly compared to them Jim

We've got 2 blockbuster games, 9 night games as well (Wed (1), Thurs (1), Fri (3), Sat (4)); we play 7 interstate games to their 5 (our 2 NT games the difference), we both play the eagles and tigers twice.

2 of those 7 are home games in Darwin and Alice Springs though, right...

That would be too logical for the AFL

So realistically who are vulnerable in the sliding stakes....

Would not surprise me if Collingwood struggle... they had a good September but without Sidebottom and Pendlebury firing will they be as good?

Essendon.. a real unknown... performed maybe two rungs below where they should have ended last year. Could go up or down.

Sydney and Hawthorn... down slightly.

Who is on the up..... not sure.. perhaps Freo and Brisbane will worry a few more teams thus making them danger games. Cannot get a handle on North.

So.... overall it's once again anyone's flag next year with Richmond and WCE deservedly favourites.

So what is the benefit in the fixture for us agreeing to play in NT twice, 2 extra interstate games is the answer.

We played them twice in 2016 as well, only about 47K turned up to the round 4 game. I won't be expecting a bumper crowd to our home game with them.

Not a bad draw at all, apart from the NT debacle still being played out. F$&@“

Being shunted down to the Cattery again is just ridiculous, but Jeelong get what they want.

It’s a tough draw, why not. We want to be a Power side, we EXPECT to beat anyone. The days of searching for the soft option must be gone.

I guess Coach Goodwin starts serious work today....

We don't 'agree" to play two home games in the NT.. We choose to.

SYWL what's your explanation for carlton not getting a single Friday night game?

Perhaps the AFL didn't get channel 7's memo telling them that carlton HAD to be scheduled for multiple Friday night games because they are a power club and channel 7 is interested only in seeing them rise up the ladder.

Or maybe they did and realised it was dated 4 October 1979.

Nice of the AFL to gift us a 6 day break after the Alice game later in the year.

We actually also got a 6 day break after Alice this year when we played the Dogs after the Adelaide game.

Hopefully getting a 9 day break after the Darwin game next year will be of benefit as opposed to the usual 7.

We have a tough draw but so be it. However I would like to have a big whinge and that is about Geelong. They play interstate sides 4 times there. Gws, eagles, sydney and Adelaide. They play 5 games with melbourne clubs and guess who they are. Us,dogs, saints, north and the new kid on the block Carlton. Well that is just bloody typical. They play 2 home games at the MCG against Hawthorn and Essendrug. They shouldn't get any home games at the MCG.

Agreed. Make them play all home games in Geelong. They can't have their cake and eat it too.

Will be interested to see what happens with the Big Freeze on QB. Now it’s not our home game.

I assume it will still happen.

If we play well the club could make some serious coin.

Maybe its done Rd 3 vs Bombers re: Daniher link
