Yes i agree, it's just that i have trouble deciding if they are equal to or below The AFL or the Umpires in the integrity battle.......

Nah, the trade period should be longer if anything. In many pro sports the trade period extends into the season.

Haha right, so instead of 2 weeks to get 5 trades done they would take months. The longer the period doesnt equate to more trades, just more time wasting. Im actually for players moving all year but not in this way,i just think that if you're out of contract there should be no trades just go where you want with no compo.Freedom to move to the club of your choice if not contracted

Why is everyone on here ask for 2 first rounds pick. We are not getting that and never were. Everyone is dreaming ???

MFC said on friday they were always happy with pick 5 and a second round (around pick 23). Which equals pick 2 on points. Thats very very fair.

MFC made no such statement as far as I am aware.ย  Some journo said he'd been told that. Didn't even say who told him.

A lot of people talking about this article and the Sun, but no one posting it. So here you are those stuck behind the pay wall

FREMANTLE footy boss Peter Bell will fly into Melbourne tomorrow to resolve a series of impasses holding up the trade period with two days to go.

The Demons and Dockers traded barbs in their public statements on Friday, but are set to resume key talks over the future of Melbourne spearhead Jesse Hogan.

Deals involving Hogan, Lion Dayne Beams and Sunsโ€™ stopper Steven May all hinge on the Dockers releasing midfield hard-nut Lachie Neale to Brisbane for the Lionsโ€™ top pick (No. 5) and a swap of other selections.

Lachie Neale looms as the man that could make the trade dominoes fall quickly tomorrow. Picture: Getty Images

The Neale deal will likely trigger Hoganโ€™s move west to Fremantle, with the key forwardโ€™s connections hopeful the two clubs will final make ground on a deal today.

Suggest that might be 5, 23 & 30.

At this point in time, Melbourne already has pick 36.

I'm a novice when it comes to the points system, but would picks 23 and 30 equate to a top 20 pick?

And if we traded 5 for May and KK, would packaging 23, 30 and 36 get us a pick between 10-15?

They arenโ€™t offering pick 11 for lobb.. theyโ€™re offering pick 11 for lobb and pick 25ย

pick 11 alone for lobb would be ridiculous.

Me thinks Tom Morris has become Freo's mouthpiece. The logic of the article is off.

'Jesse came to us and said he was relatively keen, but wanted $8mil over 8 years. I mean, it's not like he's a good player or we are poo, so how dare he?! Then Melbourne asked for 2 first rounders as well! Not like he's a good player or anything. Must be a trap! So we offered a first rounder and a second, and when they said no we rejected their trade (?) And now we are really angry if people question if we are bluffing, coz we are definitely not trading for him... but if Melbourne cave we will do a trade.'

Tom not the sharpest tool in the shed.

I watched the preliminary final at the Light Brigade Hotel in Paddington, aย well known AFL pub in Sydney.

It was packed - probably 60% Weagles supporters but a lot of Dees fans in there too. Great atmosphere. For the first 30 seconds of the first quarter.

Tom Morris was atย the pub, proudly sporting an MFC scarf. I ordered a round of beers next to him at the bar and, even though I didnโ€™t chat to him, he genuinely seemed to be a Demonsโ€™ supporter.

Apologies if this is common knowledge but it seemsย relevant to point this out in circumstances where some here have accused him of being Freoโ€™s mouth-piece on this issue.

No. That wonโ€™t get it done.

Picks 23 (815) + 30 (629) equates to 1444 points. Pick 9 = 1469 points and pick 10 = 1395. So in points terms that would equate to 2 top 10 picks (if including pick 5 as well)

Only really equates if you're using it for academy player really. Otherwise pick 40,41,42,43 would equal top 10 pick, which we know doesn't.

I thin, kit needs to be kept in mind that the Hogan trade, if it happens did not have to be dependent on the Neale trade as Freo had pick 6 that they could have used to sen d to us as part of the trade.

They were greedy and sent it to Port for a range of later picks. Therefore they did not have a low first round to trade with us. It also set up this chain of trades wiating to happen.

It should be noted that to date they have not used any of the picks they gained from Port.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
