If you watch Harmes, he always looks like he is sore when he walks, I think it's just his gait.

It's the Hogan shuffle

At the game on Friday I had my binocs on the players at 3/4 time (they looked buggered) and after the game ... after the game they had a shining beatific look. Like joy, but deeper and more spiritual.

And after training today they spent considerable time signing autographs, taking pics with the kiddies, chatting. The looks on some of their faces! It was like Football Christmas for them. Weid in particular looked like he was having the time of his life. Surely they were thinking, this is what it's all about. Gee it was great to see them getting some first hand reward from the fans for their efforts. Long may it continue.

Incidentally Tracc was slotting his goals but boy he looked tentative doing it. As long as they go through, Tracc!

GO DEMONS!!!!!!!

Was just going off what their websites said

You were right about Richmond (SEN were wrong) but Collingwood had a big crowd there.

Boys practicing some spirals. Even if we don't employ the tactic again it's nice to know - and let West Coast know - that we are happy to have it in our kit-bag. If Gawn were to track toward the centre-circle at a kick-in for instance, I'm sure he'll attract a lot of attention - opening options elsewhere. An an early 'chaos' torp from the middle into the forward line would cause some double-guessing for their defensive set-up. Like it.

When will someone let Gus know that hair is not ok.

Why do you think his mum makes him wear the helmet?

I am passionate enough of a supporter to admit to getting a “twinge” looking at those pics!

At my age, that is akin to a religious miracle!

No thanks - TMI

I also experienced an unfamiliar pulsation.

So this is what supporting a successful team feels like? (before you howl me down, I know it's only 4 wins on the trot)

If it ends in Purf it's still been a great year to be a D supporter

You must be very passionate indeed if you get a "twinge" out of this picture.

Dirty old men.

I'll have you know I'm a young virile Country Road wearer.

That's a lie. I don't wear Country Road.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
