We walked past it about 2 bays over as we were leaving. Heard a massive roar and looked over to see what was happening - The Wiz once again putting on a show. I had to explain to my 5yo who Jeff Farmer was, gonna rip out the Dynamic Demons 2000 video for him to educate himself.

Saw him many times as an 22yo new Demons member. He deserves it all. He lifted when Lyon was on the field and did some things that are brilliant.

Love him, get him on board

That great mark on Garry Lyon's crook back is one of my first Melbourne memories. I have some fleeting memories of footy games from before then, but this is the only one I can pinpoint the game it happened. I watched it with my grandpa at the G from behind/right of that mark.

It was a ripper, and so was he. Must admit I grew to hate him while he was at the dockers, but that was because he was ours, and he always turned it on against us!

I just hope he is on Kobe's ear telling him to pick the Dee's when the time comes for father son nomination. We need a second coming of the wiz (and not a second purple Jesus).

Glad Jeff's heart still beats true for the red and the blue.

In 2000 I took my mate to Telstra Dome when Melbourne played Freo. Farmer was amazing, my mate who wasn't a huge footy fan, still talks about that day!

I think it’s pretty clear where father son loyalty will be placed.

If he’s in Melbourne now, does anyone know where his young bloke is playing? He was with the Mandurah Mustangs.... assuming he’s followed Dad to Melbs?

Hopefully he can do an Open Mike or, even better, a Demonland podcast... would love to hear some of the stories and his thoughts on the club.

The boys on the Deebrief podcast did an interview with the Wiz last night. Was a great listen! Talked about his love for the club, his kids and that famous celebration!

Suggest you all get on your favourite podcast app prontissimo and check it out. It was excellent!

Just finished listened to it right now, wow!! How good is it to hear players like Jeff be so invested in the Dees still.

Jeffy has hope Kobe is going to be good enough and hopefully picked up by the Dees.

Will never understand why the Wiz changed from #33 to #8 after the 2000 season, where he produced one of the greatest seasons you will ever see from a forward pocket.

He lost all his powers when he ditched the 33.

As a tribute to a family member, from memory

Mate! It was a ripper wasn't it! Best interview I've heard for ages. Aside from DL ones of course!

Absolutely loved it how when asked 'Melbourne or Freo?' he said Melbourne without missing a beat!

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
