Just saw this headline on HS website:  Lewis email sets teammates straight. Seems to relate to 'celebrating too hard'.

Can anyone get around the paywall and give a bit more info. Thanks.

Lewis is a seasoned finals campaigner showing great leadership with that email.  Finals is what we recruited him for and he has played two of his best games for us, in the last few weeks.

Am rapt he is 'holding our hand' over the next month.   Keep the kids calm and focused ?

“It was pretty much, ‘You don’t get any satisfaction out of making finals, you get it from winning finals’.

“Let’s understand what we have got to play for this week (against GWS Giants) and we want to hit the ground running (in finals).”

Btw, any updates from Doctor Who? Is his support for GWS still ongoing?

He received a much deserved life ban from DL:D

Charlie Spargo has played 15 games for 12 wins and 3 losses

Selwood-esque, and my new replacement for the PedoFacts stat of Melbourne seemingly winning every time Pedersen played (that stat has gone off the boil and been retired as of this year).

Every finals team will fear playing Melbourne. We have some weapons, unpredictability, game breakers and match winners, we have hardness, multiple scoring options, momentum and nothing to lose.

Go Dees.

Don't know mate, but given they pick him game after game after game, with Bugg in particular and and Garlett doing ok in the 2s, means you've probably got it wrong!

What? Garlett has been stinking it up at Casey until this weekend. He was so bad last week that it was impossible to select him after he was dropped in the lead-up to the WCE game.

As for Bugg, I don't even consider him coming into the side. In fact, I would put money on him being delisted at the end of the season.

So, we've just finished the season in fifth place, despite significant injury lay-offs to important players. Where are all the 'the sky is falling' posters who were virtually threatening to rip up their memberships a few weeks ago..? ;)

Given the team-first-style we play now, I just don’t think Garlett fits in as well. Individually he is talented and brilliant, but collectively in the team, he doesn’t contribute in the way others do. I wouldn’t consider him unless we were desperate now.

Too risky I think.

This.

Our x-factor, high scoring track record, exuberant youthful players, the games most interesting personality who also happens to have the best beard, there’s a lot for teams to be fearful of, but there’s also a lot for the wider AFL to get on board and back during the finals series.

im quietly confident we’ll do some damage.

The AFL chose the MFC elimination final for Friday night football. They chose the brand that plays the most exciting football for their premier AFL audience.  Gee things have changed! Go Dees!

Bumping two power clubs to Thursday night. Channel 7 must be losing their touch.

Great to see you’re believing, Jnr. Not wanting to show you up here but I remember saying something similar (about most teams fearing us) after Round 2 this year and your response at the time was, “Comedy gold”.

Agree with you that this team has all the attributes you say it has. And probably like you, I can’t bloody wait to have another crack at Geelong - got some unfinished business with them, and some painful memories (going back many years) to ease, if not erase.

Dr d where are you? I was thinking a picture if Tom sculy as your new avatar. Or Jordie gysbert 'pumping' iron.

For the love of god Goody don’t put Omac on Hawkins.

Hawkins will get frostbite.

We’re gonna need the break. 65 to 84 interchanges with Tyson and Kent out. That itself is so telling how hard the boys worked against a team that is considered fast! Just amazing.

Their energy in the 3rd and 4th quarter was breathtaking, Gawn twice chased a man hard and while he didn’t catch him made damn sure it wasn’t an unpressured kicked.

Today was a coming of age for us, they played like a team that belongs deep in September.

And just a quick pump up to all the Dees fans at the game today. GWS would’ve been lucky to have 1000 there so to get that crowd was fantastic, and hearing on the TV the crowd was LOUD!

I can’t begin to describe how much I wanted to be there and how gutted I am at missing the first final.

BT doesn’t seem to mind broadcasting his ignorance, especially when it comes to Melbourne, but he may have outdone himself today.

Bartel spoke about Jones closing in on Neitz’s games record.

Conversation immediately turned to the club’s leading goalkicker, with BT asking “Melbourne have never had a league leading goalkicker have they?”

Yeah. Neitz. The guy you were taking about ten seconds ago. You [censored] numpty.

Good to see they have the most boring fixture on during the day.  Given the history, we should have a close, high-scoring game, so it's only right we get a decent timeslot for it.

What an incredible win. Clearly the best win under Goodwin. We were missing just as many important players as GWS and we creamed them. Some of our ball movement was champagne. The passage that lead to ANB's goal was simply awesome.

Gawn is getting better every week. He played a real leaders game. Those two chases and his ability to drop back and take important defensive (eg on the quarter time siren) was terrific.

Upon reflection, I find this game exciting because I think even though we played patches of brilliant footy, there's still a lot more we can do. But for the majority of the match we applied great frontal pressure and our press was working on the bigger ground, which was nice to see.

Brayshaw loves playing on the wide expanses of the MCG. He really gets into space well.

Weideman finally put together a full good game of AFL. Really contributed.

I reckon we've clicked. It's a bit like Richmond last year. Even if we fall over in the finals, 2019 is looking really exciting. Add a Gaff and we become scary.

I heard that but from memory they said we've never had a 100 goal kicker.

Yeah that was mentioned afterwards but originally was about whether Melbourne had ever had a Coleman medallist. It was just entertaining that the last one was the guy they were talking about seconds earlier.

BT also spoke about Gawn moving into defence as if it was some recently employed tactic. Was pointed out to him by Daisy that it’s been a long standing move, to which he predictably responded by trying to make out she was trying to be clever. No. You’re just wrong. Again..

It’s obvious the little work he puts in off camera.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
