To Paul Roos and Peter Jackson, this is for you.
Thankyou for joining The Melbourne Football Club and bringing the Demons back from the Dead.
Job is not completed yet, But September is where it all starts and we are there, after 12 years of sadness.
We are there...

That glass is just a cover up SWYL.

I'm betting you're celebrating  in Soi Cowboy.

Lady drinks are far too expensive in Soi Cowboy BBO

The Garden on Soi 7 is a much better option

Big Night Tonight...

Good to see Goodwin showing some flexibility with TMac spending a fair bit of time down back.

Thights on vanders elbow? I thought he was bracing for contact and Rioi (I think it was) slid low into him. Could be wring but thats how I saw to. Should be fine. Vanders was robberd with that free to Cripps gifting them a goal.

I'm not sure why you would bother posting this, especially with the 'precious' line at the end.

I see no need to bother with a slanging match, especially after we've just secured a finals spot with an incredible win.  Let's put all the other stuff aside and agree, for once, to enjoy it as Melbourne fans!

You're both precious.

Better?

Not sure if this erases the heartache of all the close loses(especially the ones where we leading)but it comes close

Today we didn’t give in,we chose to fight

like the kid in the school yard who gets bullied ,decides enough is enough and fights

we have been waiting a very long time for this

Im sick of being the club everyone feels sorry for ,I want us to feared and respected

It started today, sometimes we must fight even if it’s the hardest thing to do

Enjoy this win everyone

ps ;Wisebood I could never believe how positive you were ,even with the terrible losses

you my friend are true Blue !!!

The Tattoo parlours will be busy tomorrow ?

The Psychology of the finals series has just completely change, we are coming into it battle hardened with no pressure at all. With the gorilla now off the back we are so [censored] dangerous.

We have probably locked in a few Friday night games for 2019 now.

Very exciting as we will finally get to see Roaming Brian in the Dees rooms.

Final Round year 2000. we smashed West Coast in West Coast. I was there - did my grad dip in Perth that year, must have been 3 Demons in the crowd and a cheer squad of 10. Bluey Mckenna's final game for the Eagles.....

Only fitting we go very [censored] Deep from here

Shall be done mate

We have ALL waited a long time for this.

Let’s Beat GW$ next week and Face off against Jeelong.

We owe those Bastards Big Time

I seriously cannot believe we are in the finals.

And im not worries about getting smashed in week 1. We can give them a shake, no teams to fear

Enormously proud of the group despite my often negative comments.

As Jones said, this should take so much pressure off the club's shoulders and we can now play with a freedom that we won't have seen before.

I really hope that the MFC faithful will show up in force next weekend and rally behind this club for what it's achieved. I've been guilty of picking and choosing when to go to games due to how flaky we've been as a side.

We're playing finals.

We're back.

I have legit been crying since that Kent goal. My daughter and missus think I'm an idiot. They clearly dont understand what this [censored] club has done to us supporters for over a decade

I think you mean what this Club means to we supporters

Oh man. Oh man. I have honestly needed the last 2 hours to come down. I reckon I came as close as a 33 year old male could come to a cardiac arrest in those dying stages.

There were some people on here who picked it and were fully confident, I want to thank you guys because you had confidence I just didn’t have and your enthusiasm should not be under appreciated. I said before the game it felt like we were walking the plank.

Where do you start with the performance? I thought we were outstanding right from the get go. We had moments where we lacked polish and probably could have nailed more chances but I couldn’t give a stuff about those right now. One thing we had was our effort which we brought 100% for nearly 100% of the game. I said in the game day thread that it just had this feeling that a club like West Coast would end up taking over because clubs like that win this games and play finals and clubs like us don’t belong. Newsflash: [censored] that! WE JUST RE-WROTE THE NARRATIVE IN THE MOST EMPHATIC WAY POSSIBLE!!!

Hard to pick a BOG because it was such a great team effort. But my god it was so good to have Milkshakes back. He kicks the ball like no other and something that no-one has said much before, he has great football sense. Those two times he choose to lead back out the back were genius. The midfield has one of their best collective efforts for the year, Oliver and Gus doc their thing but once again Harmes went above and beyond. That kick to Kent when we could barely deliver a ball inside was absolute mint from the plomb. Max battles all day and took some crucial grabs, he’s clearly banged up but he’s toiling on like a champion.

To the backline. They were always going to have their hands full but never gave in. Hibberd makes a big difference, hopefully he’s just had some thightness. Never Jetta just delivers in crucial moments time and time again and has well and truly cemented his place as one of the leagues players of quality. Oscar did his job. Lewis went to ground a bit but when we needed the experienced head I thought he was excellent.

And the rest, The moment was boiling to a climax when Kent had his shot. The image of him lining up for goal is now burned in my mind as it literally felt like 12 years were hanging on this ‘either way’ moment. And when he delivered there was a feeling that you really only get once in a blue moon. It’s hard to explain but the body language when Clarry and (Nibbler I think?) embraced Kent, man, I can’t even explain it I really can’t. There are celebrations in football but in my options there are ones that go even beyond that stuff. The closest comparison I can think of is in the 2012 grand final when Malceski kicked that snap to seal it and that particular elation that followed it from the Swans players.

Im not forgetting Mitch Hannan who was outstanding. Kicked most of his chances and made contests wherever he could, he had a serious presence. AVB played the game of his life, his tackling early was a massive reason why we got a run on, hopefully he’s not in trouble for that elbow.

I could go through everyone, Salem used it well when it counted, Fristch had two crucial long kicks in the last 5 mins and always gives you the calming feeling that he will use it.

I am so proud of these boys and this footy club. I love you MFC so much, no matter how many disappointments games like today feel so great and erased the hurt of last week. I love each and everyone on Demonland, even the out there ones. The only people who have ever truly understood what it is like to be a Melbourne fan. I would never have it any different, being a Melbourne fan is the best ever and I don’t envy any other club’s fans one little bit.

We did it people we did it! :)))))))

Home now after an extended celebration at the pub, where we we’re watching. How much sweeter after waiting so long.

in the depths of despair after wce hit the front by a point fully expecting them to kick on from them. But the Dees, how courageous! Jones found something special, Harmes just so strong, Oliver, Petracca -class shows . So many things to like.

Happiness at my House!

There were so many salty Eagles fans there today. I hope all our WA brethren wear their scarves to work tomorrow.

That was the plan. And I’ll have the theme song ready to go in my pocket as I walk into the office.

Nev Jetta is the best player to ever play the game. That is all.

And when Nev comprehensively outmarked him, that was the biggest sulk by a beaten player ever in the history of Aussie rules in Perth. Beautiful to watch.

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
