I'm an SA based Dees fan, and I couldn't bring myself to go this weekend. Not because I couldn't get tickets but because of a few things.

1. Struggling to walk on what may be a broken foot after kicking most things within reach last Saturday night.

2. Crows supporters are complete nupties who know absolutely nothing about football.

3. If we go down again like last week, I don't want to be responsible for another fight in the crowd.

4. See 2.

Come on, Man up. The boys need your support.

ANY training sessions in Adelaide??

Nothing like rolling the dice again (no changes) ,if we lose will the selectors bannish some players for good?.Hopefully we will win so the players can prove themselves. If that is the case we will only bit.h above some players, the rest will see it as a godsend !!!!!

chook I don't think it will make the slightest difference and who could blame him from avoiding the Crows play pen I went once and never again they are bad enough in Melbourne.

I don't comment too much about the spurious statements made here but sometimes it just goes too far. I had a player parent comment about some of the things that were said about certain footballers on this site. They were not about his son but he confirmed that some parents and family read the site and were upset with the viciousness of some of the comments made.

I'm not saying you don't have the right to voice your opinion as to whom should be picked or not get another contract but the way they are being embellished is distressing to some people. I would hope that prior to voicing those opinions you would be happy to hear such comments made about your son or daughter, nephew or niece.

Good post.  I'm always of the belief that you can be critical of their footballing ability in a constructive manner without playing the man.  As supporters, players would expect criticism to come their way, but there are some who go way too far with it.  That's the social media age for you.

Tell these parents to stay out of the game day thread, though.  Some posters only pop up in that one once a week to get stuck in to any player they can get their hands on.  They aren't real supporters, though, so their opinion isn't worth the keyboard it was typed out on.

Unfortunately it comes with the territory ls. If  you make your living in public entertainment industry then you have to take the good with the bad. Hurtful comments will be made that is the way of the world especially in this era of internet access. I have a friend who is a local politician her advise is never read the paper and never ever read social media sites like demonland. Tell you friends to stay away as it is the only way. Poor? Yes but that is life in the 21st century.

Spot on Wiseblood and I will say again just stay away from social media.

“At home, the Crows almost gain a 23rd man, and they’ve used this to their advantage in wins against West Coast, Richmond and Geelong. All up, they’re 7-3 at the venue this year.” Quote from the official MGC website game preview.

Yes, he’s the umpire.

Why on earth would they come to a forum ?? Seriously. What do they expect...all sunshine and lollipops .

I'm not being facetious...just matter of fact.

I understand the suggestion...but it's quite naive really to think a forum such as these won't from time to time tear shreads off players and coaches etc.

If you don't want to get run over...I'd suggest not standing in the middle of the road.

Just what I expected. Acceptance of the unacceptable. My point is they expect criticism when due but some of what is said here is just over the top.

And you ..and possibly they...miss the point also.

This forum is but a sample of society. And even then it's tilted majorly in the direction of the "success" of the Melbourne Football Club. Family..friends are coming at it from a personal perspective. We in the main approach from an impersonal direction..is..it's the CLUB ...not the individual that matters most.

These essentially are polar opposites.

Guess what....the players...and coaches are always going to bear the brunt of criticism. It's not as though we're out there... they are.

I know people who are family and friends of players...not justMFC... Strangely almost to a one they're invariably concerned that fact is represented...it's not the criticism.

As OD reminds us... kitchens...heat.

As to this game tomorrow...Love us to win. Just don't see how . We have the same problem...an ability to score...but we buckle when manic pressure is put on our ' defence's .

Oscar can't do it by himself. He's not a one man band...and his is mainly a denial of space type game .

Geelong figured out this flaw...Crows handed the template. Goodwin seemingly looking to play same hand of cards expecting a different outcome.  Tex and his gang are waiting.

Adelaide 110 Dees 84 :(

Of course it is not good ls but how do propose we change society?

It is IMO like saying we should be able to walk around the streets of Melbourne at 2am without fear. Of course we should but will we? No because it is not safe particularly if you are a female.

No amount of public indignation will change that, so the vast majority of us do not put our selves in harms way.

I would like to believe that emploring people on Demonland to cease this behaviour would have an effect sadly the chances are close to nil.

This is as far from an issue as possible. We are the highest scoring team in the league. The next closest is Richmond approximately 150 points behind us. We could literally not play for a week and still be the highest scoring team, such is our offensive dominance.

Our is issue is our defense from the midfield. Defenders will never be able to stop a ball coming in at a million miles an hour with no pressure on, no matter who they are. Our midfield still has lapses where it does not transition to defend and pressure the ball carrier through the middle. Until this is fixed we will never contend, despite being an offensive juggernaught.

Great advice!   There are many reasons family read this site.   It is actually quite a good source of info for family members that live away.

Can I also add:  Have a think about what you say (yell) at the footy match. I was at the Bulldogs game and there were some awful things being said repeatedly about a couple of players and one in particular.  That players wife and child were sitting very close and heard everything.  Nasty stuff!   I really don't get why people single players out and yell at them, it isn't really supporting is it.

Revisionism at it’s finest

It's an amazing spin on a 28 game career that averaged 14 disposals and 0.6 goals per game.

He was a classic underdog who showed competitiveness in a team that lacked heart and talent, and thus the nostalgic view.  I believe he has some talent and potential, and combined with his drive he could become a player and may even make an immediate impact.  But anyone who thinks good performance is guaranteed is kidding themselves.

Some of those on this forum are a very small sample of society, they are the ones who need to drive a big car, or own a vicious breed of dog

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
