thats crazy. Brayshaw has gone backwards, cerra will be a star

After today , yes I’ll sell Brayshaw for Cerra.  Gus gave me nil. His miss from straight infront 35 metre out in quarter time showed no real intent or care.

He's always been a one way runner though, been like that for years. People only rate him because he came 3rd in the brownlow 2 years ago, however clayton and Max were easily better that year. He's the definition of lazy

Brayshaw will be at Freo next year. No surer thing. Question is what we get for him.

Not sure why bedford has not been given a run

Got a run but would like to see him given another game this week v giants.   Love to see a Pickett and Bedford combo causing pressure and creating goals in forward 50.

I thought he looked good in the pre season, but his game on Monday was one of the worst games I've ever seen from an MFC player. I guess that answered my querie last week

Having Jones on the wing for parts of the game still doesn't feel me with confidence, feel like we still need a few more mids with pace

Yes Ed Richards might be a good target. Excellent skills. Left footer. Still very young. Offer a 3year deal.  Any idea on his contract status ?

I think that Kozzie will become an amazing outside mid

Kozzie’s best attributes are hunting in to congestion to tackle then bursting out of congestion. We need him at centre bounces and on ball, he’s not a wingman.

A lot of teams don’t have 2 great wing options. A Harmes/ Brayshaw combination is probably about league average for the 2nd wing.

That said I hope we’re on the look out for a mid season draft pick up  (then draft, trade, rookie etc - let’s throw multiple assets at this role).

Kozzie should be a forward pocket who can fill in midfield if needed.

Outside mid a must, missing out on Hill, Smith, Phillips in recent years to compliment Langdon is hurting us. I can't for the life of me see why the coaches / administration team think Jones, Brayshaw, Harmes are good enough to stick on a wing. It's all about pace and two way running.

hes OOC - i went to school with him, he told bevo in his exit meeting last year. i want to play back not forward to which bevo said you'll play where i pick ya. he said no i want to play back, bevo said ok but you'll start as our 42nd player ed said no worries and got to work. was playing really well vs collingwood in the vfl game on friday but then broke his leg/ankle and got stretchered off. i have a feeling a lot of clubs will be on the phone given the depth and strength of dogs in that position

Would be worth a look, they can't keep all of them.

Still hopping there is some body, we can pick up in the mid season draft, as long as he play from day one, and not play at Cassey for the rest of the year.

I'm not to sure but i think i read, that we have two spots left, to use in the mid, season draft, do you or any one else know of any players, that could be worth a punt?

We recruited Bowey Laurie and Rosman but you guys are not patient enough.

Give them time but if u must start a chorus for ANB as he runs both ways but disposal may be a bit dodgy now and then.

Bowey=backman

Laurie=forward

Rosman=utility

Tom Phillips was up for grabs

Tom Phillips was up for grabs

All three were recruited for pace run and carry and the first two for elite disposal.

Where they start off is up to the Club but all 3 could play on a wing at some stage or HFF and use Their pace and carry.

Move on from Phillips we didn't grade for him or he rejected an offer He  is not with us no good keeping on about it.

Maybe as I saiD ANB might work as he runs both ways. He is not consistent enough at HFF so we lose nothing by trying him on the wing.

Rosman is the best Long term prospect but we have to wait something you are not apparently prepared to do.

Worth a re-run.  Couldn't agree more on both fronts.  Kozzie should be blooded as a mostly small forward goal sneak specialist.  That's where we'll gain the most from him with the occasional "Cyril" type cameo through the middle where he will be handy in short stints.  Certainly a star in the making here regardless.

The other wing is a real worry.  I would personally trial Hunt here for a few matches.  Outside of that we are lacking a genuine option with some toe and a genuine tank.  I thought Hannan might have been the answer but lacked the latter and was too often injured.  Thomo on occasions can hold his own but on the wide open spaces of the G we need someone with some toe and class by foot coming inside.  Is Rivers an option at some stage once he builds a tank with another pre-season or two?

great call, either richards or vandermeer would be fantastic for our team. There is a squeeze at the dogs for those types of players. Vandermeer is also one of Clarry's best mates as they grew up together in Mooroopna.

yes, yes, and yes but then...no

tom phillips was only up for grabs if you were prepared to pay him his full salary which is up to $600k a year for the next two - the filth weren't prepared to take on any of that as they were already set to pay $300k a year to treloar for the next three years

we couldn't afford to bring phillips even from a salary cap perspective unless we could offload the likes of tom mcdonald...which now looks to be a far better option

mcdonald looks as fit as he has for years and will play that wing role once brown and weideman return

My mail was wrong (and perfectly happy that it was!) I hope he’s a Dee for life. The question will be - with Jordon and Sparrow emerging - do you try and fit him in as an outside mid when it’s clearly not his best position?

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

    The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match.The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

    The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
