Lol. Apologies for basically repeating your post.

It was probably a point that deserved being made twice anyway.

I'm not so sure of this huge dormant supporter base that you speak of. Our club punches above its weight with supporter to membership conversion. However Roy Morgan research has the MFC as the lowest supported club outside of GC and GWS in the AFL.

If true that makes the work of those in charge even better than I thought.

Far easier to make money off a huge supporter base.

I've always thought that one of the reasons we have such a high supporter:member ratio is because a large percentage of our supporters reside within driving distance of the city. Also due to the stereotype of our supporters being upper middle/upper class are more likely to have expendable cash/time to buy memberships/go to the footy.

Put it this way I have a number of friends who class themselves Collingwood supporters one is pretty clued on but no membership and probably attends 2-3 games a year. The rest would name Buckley as their favourite current player. But if asked in a poll they would name themselves as Collingwood supporters.

If Malthouse hates Pert, then I am confident Pert is a good bloke.

MM is a bitter, twisted and a selfish person from what I have heard.

He had no need at all to comment about Pert, except out of a need for revenge.

As Eddie said, they both don't like each other.

Correct, reflects poorly on Malthouse.

A diverse answer i suspect, but we should be targetting these people right now

North Melbourne has been doing it for some time...

Makes sense. I never understand why we are not more proactive in this area

Thats the point I was making.

Beware the fool's gold of any staff coming from Hawthorn, Collingwood, Geelong, etc. It's easy to get the job done while the team's has wins coming out its backside and hangers-on are clamouring to get to club events to rub shoulders with legends. Many a coattail ridden in these circumstances.

The real work is done at the also-ran clubs, and the pretender-to-contender clubs.

It’s all about winning for the MFC. That is the only way we will grow.

It’s been too long.

Pert will have many contacts from his time at Austereo and The Filth

Not that I want him back but by jingos, Doctor Who would be in his element in this thread. It's almost like the thread he was born for.

Paul Roos is a decent judge of character Andy has known him since their U19 days.  History was no doubt ratified by Roos.

As for Malthouse, the last bit of advice he gave the MFC was about Neeld ticking all the boxes.

I was thinking the same thing.

What gives you such confidence? The history of our board ensuring such? And backing in the footy department when meddling has occurred?

because we are not in the [censored] house like last times we had changes   off-field we are going well and flying onfield, there will be a idea of keeping the current status quo.

dont forget the ceo retired he was not fired. we would have said to all candidates there is a system and we like it can you follow.

That's rubbish and it just demonstrates your lack of understanding.

I also doubt Pert bringing over his Rolodex is going to do great things for the club, and fail to see how it's relevant to your first couple of sentences.

Many years ago i worked for a market research company whilst at Uni.

I take no notice of their figures for that reason, so much was fudged blatantly.

My point is, i think we have a huge dormant supporter base who do not even admit they are demons. We have been crap for to long!

Dormant is right, they are in boxes, swyl.

The thing is the progeny are out there, but in other colours, these days.   Or other sports.

We have to start at ground Zero again, Open up the club for passing trade (Richmond Station), and remake our base.

4 is certainly my/our idea but I don't have confidence in 5a because we've had to fight so hard for 1a in part due to 1b and I'm concerned that the board's desire to turn 2 into the status of 3 will compromise 5b and ultimately 3 which will in turn impact 2 and undermine 1a.

I already felt good about the Pert appointment.

But now that Malthouse is saying hes no good,  I feel even better about it.

Correct. And Richmond is the other hipster team of choice. We need to target this demographic aggressively or be left behind.

Thankfully we have good marketing staff in the club.

How is it Rubbish?

explain please. You are thinking in a small bubble Mach. I expected better from you.

Corporate contacts can go a long way...

Explain, if it is "all about winning", how exactly that applies to Pert's appointment?

And then how that has anything at all to do with corporate contacts?

If Pert wasn’t a good get he wouldn’t be coming, it’s that simple. There’s no way Jackson or the AFLwould allow us to employ a Muppet. For you quoting Collingwood sources saying he’s no good you’re probably the same clowns who said the same about Jackson. HE has a simple task, get 50,000 members and increase our revenue

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?

It was only a preseason match but the new look Demons spearheaded by new coach Steven King looked impressive as they put on a clinic against perennial cellar-dwellers North Melbourne as they cruised to an 80 point victory at Casey Fields.
