At last the Demons seem to have unearthed some genuine AFL stars, and are playing attractive, successful football.

If we can continue in this vein I can see several ways that our success will feed on itself, and we could develop into a  big, successful club again.

1.  If we can keep going late into September, it will bring back many thousands of previously lukewarm supporters to become members again. With our MCG/MCC connections,60,000 should not be unattainable in a couple of years.

2.Continued success increases our chances of Fri night games, which helps  greatly with attracting sponsors.

3. More sponsors ease the financial pressures, and we can stop selling games interstate, which has always put us at a huge disadvantage.

4. Continued success will bring more Demon supporters to our games, At present, at our home games on the MCG against Richmond, Collingwood, Essendon, Carlton, Hawthorn, Geelong....even North and Sydney sometimes, we are outnumbered by opposition supporters.

When we play interstate clubs on the MCG, the crowds are small, and there isn’t the “ cauldron of hatred “ for the opposition that Geelong,Adelaide and Perth clubs benefit from.  It’s obvious that umpires are swayed by crowds containing supporters of one club only. We are often adversely affected by this.

It all depends on the Demons becoming a strong, successful team, and this Monday we can continue this upward trend. I can’t wait, and I’m confident our boys will give it a red hot go, and  clean up the Mudpies!

From Little things Big Things Grow

We must demand and expect GROWTH in all areas.

Previously many supporters we have been content with survival and the odd win, those days must be banished.

As a Supporter base we must demand excellence in all areas of the club, it is our money the club uses.

Shareholders expect yearly dividends.

Dividends in the case of the MFC must be measured soley by September results.

I agree with the sentiment of what the OP is saying as well.  Our future, both on and off the field, does look promising.  It's up to the club to keep it going in the years to come.

Agreed. Perhaps the Afls fairness will allow us to play 12 night games like Swans do this year.

FRAWLEY, BLEASE, GYSBERTS, MARIC, TAPSCOTT, $CULLY, TRENGOVE (maybe), STRAUSS, GRIMES, WATTS, MORTON

AKA: The core of the MFC 2014 premiership team.

Thanks. Gysberts & Maric were two that had me stumped.

Important thing to remember is that at this moment, and for many years now, Melbourne supporters are the most likely of any club's supporters to take out a membership or to actually turn up to games. And that has held out even through some very... less-than-fun... times.

To my mind the crucial thing to hold onto through any good times that do come, is the culture that says you're not just there for the fun, you're attached as a part of the club's community. You could even just call it standing up for the best of the classic values of Australian Football.

If we assembled a team just from our players taken after pick 30, it would surpass that group.

What a spectacular turnaround.

In fact - I'll back my words, here's the rival squad -

Spargo (29) and Fritsch (31)

Hannan (46) and T. Smith (R. 25)

Wagner (R. 6) and J Smith (R. 41)

Neal-Bullen (40) Stretch (42) O.McD (53) and Vandenberg (R. 2)

Hunt (57) and Harmes (R. 2)

A little part of me wonders how these guys would have turned out with the current coaching team. Were most of them spuds or did the club fail them. Probably a combination.

I don’t think talent was the issue for most of the guys in this pic tbh.
