Post Match Discussion - Round 11

We've won the same amount of games over the last six weeks than we did during the entirety of the 2012 and 2013 combined.

Quite a way we've come.

Having now seen the replay, the most pleasing thing for me was that we found away to get back into it after the three early Dogs goals and then to control general play despite being beaten in clearances. In most of our wins this year we've dominated around the stoppages. I'm not able to put my finger on why we got beaten so badly, but whatever the reason, we adjusted.

We also adjusted to combat the loss of Lever nicely. Harmes played well across half-back and Lewis and Jetta both played stunning games.

Hogan and TMac up forward are gelling so well together.

Not sure where to pose this question, but given it's a question about stats recorded for this game, this is probably better than starting a new thread.

According to the AFL website here are some players, their disposal numbers and their contested possessions (CP) and uncontested possessions (UP). However, the contested and uncontested possessions do not equal disposals. Perhaps this is because a player may take possession but not dispose of the ball. But if that's the case, how does Petracca have more disposals than possessions?

Does anyone know how these numbers are actually derived and what they measure?

Did Tom get on of Petracca's possessions?

Let's not forget he's also played some very good games as a run-with players as well (at least once this year).  He offers some versatility.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him run with Sidebottom on the weekend.

Sidebottom will enjoy a weekend with Bernie. Without doubt, Bernie would just love to contain Sidebottom using his tricks of the trade and I hope that this eventuates. It is up to the rest of the team to limit the options that Sidebottom regularly finds; a close quarters game from the Dees should enable that to take place.

Can i just bring light to the fact that we went down to 3 on the bench from the first quarter, and also had 20 mins of 2 on the bench and still managed to come back from 8 points down at quarter time to smash our opposition...

Observant!

My 5 week old daughter still hasn't witnessed a loss... she's going to think I'm crazy when I tell her about "the dark days"

hell, she's only ever seen 1 lost quarter!

You got perfect timing for breaking her in. She will be rusted on Dees for life.

LFR, it's either your daughter or Charlie Spargo who are responsible for our 6 consecutive wins. Both probably about the same size but I'm guessing your daughter is cuter.

I missed the majority of the game due to work and haven’t had a chance to read this whole thread but am I right in thinking that the Bulldogs players didn’t stay on the ground to form a guard of honour for Jones when he was carried off?

Well that is poor form. I know he wasn’t playing his last game but I still think he should of been extended the courtesy.

Please. It's just a 250th. I love Jones as much as anyone, but if you're not playing your 300th you shouldn't get a guard of honour.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
