Bombers shouldn't need much to give much.  It's a salary dump by GWS

Yet the media think Jesse is worth only one top 10 pick!! Complete idiots!!

Getting a bit tired of 'media' undervaluing our players and (in a relative trade sense) overvaluing those of other clubs!  I know I shouldn't pay any attention but they tended to set the narrative and it is painful!

Definitely media undervaluing our players this year LH, think a bit jealous about our gun kids perhaps, really noticeable.

midfielders are where the gold is these days

Richmond and Dog's success has seemingly dulled the need for KPF's.

Another reason perhaps for keeping Hogan for 2019 if we don't get what we want as the fashion could change again with the WCE victory

Sheil a GWS reject? I guess your more qualified than eighteen FD managers! ?

If a player has been told to go look elsewhere due to cap reasons, the giants clearly dont rank him as a top tier player. So yes I would say he is another GWS reject. Yes better quality than Jarrod Pickett but still at the end of the day was told to look elsewhere.

Many others well above him in importance at the giants clearly.

To be honest he is a B+ type player, not worth selling your future for 5 years out of a B+ mid.

Further to that seems only 4 clubs were interested not 17.

his rumoured salary offer is $1M+ so he's definitely not a B grader

It's a bit like us and Hogan.. GWS bat deep in the midfield area where by good luck we have 3 KPF's

So Plough thinks a 26 year old Shiel, is worth pick 9 this year and a first round next year as a starting point, for a good small mid, whose kicking is a little wonky.

Jesse a 23 year old key forward who could be anything is only worth one first rounder. Go figure.

Well surprise surprise. I play golf with his uncle who told me weeks ago the family were really keen to see Dylan return home. he spun the story about Dylan being a Caulfield Grammarian, who idolised Judd and barracked for Carlton. He said he didn't know who was the preferred club but as a staunch Bombers fan, he sincerely hoped that Dylan would choose the Dons. We looks like my golf mate got his wish, and I will be asking lots of questions this Friday.

Haven't you learnt yet, our club must be punished and then stoned to death. We aren't allowed happiness or good outcomes.

It's seriously important to take any opinions in the press with a grain of salt.  Plough thinks this but Treloar was traded for 2 pick 7's and a swap back of some picks. But Hogan is a once in a generation key forward who is tracking better than any of the great key forwards but is only worth a single first rounder.

I really don't understand the thinking.  Most of the people on Trade Radio are a complete waste of time.

I'm just going to wait till 17 Oct 8.30pm or when there's any other official news.

Tom Boyd, Tom Scully & Kurt Tippett all players who have had a million plus salary and aren't A grade players.

Sheil is a decent player don't get me wrong, however I really dont think he will be missed a GWS, and his disposable isnt crash hot.

At least he saw through Carlton’s 1980’s style grease trap.

Who doesn’t love a free trip to Noosa, that goes on the Blues soft cap number haha.

Shiel has played some excellent football, but his 2018 was very average.

I've no problems with him going to Essendon as I think it'll take a lot more than Shiel to see them make the required improvement.

However... we all now need to brace ourselves for another summer of the media shoving Essendon premiership articles down our throats after yet another 'trade coup'.

As a general rule, I don't believe anyone in the press....or clubs, players or managers, they're all spin masters. If they say one thing, I assume the opposite.

https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl

Essendon's financial offer to Shiel was signficantly lower than the other three clubs and he will be paid well under $1 million dollars next year.

Really!

I get why players like Dusty and Gaff forfeit really big bucks to stay at a club they love and are loved by all there.  And, I get why Shiel would spurn the advances and big bucks from Saints and Blues - clubs doing poorly whose coaches may not be there too much longer.

But to choose Ess and a lot less money over premiership candidate Hawks is beyond me!  Ess must have their own stash of brown paper bags!!!!

I would have jumped at it. I suppose I laugh because it’s just so cheesy and over the top. I pictured Shiel getting to Noosa, opening the door to his room and Judd sitting there at the table in a suit. If the limo and private jet haven’t gotten him over the line, Judd waiting in his room wearing a suit will surely will. Great work SOS and Co.

Spin and more spin.

Less than $1m this year but how much more than $1m the next few years?

Er, just a reminder that Paul Little sold Toll to the Japanese for $6.5 billion.

Pretty sure the deal is significantly less overall.

Latest spin is the lure of a premiership is what sold him...

Nah, I like the brown paper bags theory and @M_9 's reminder of their billionaire ex President... ?

...who probably has lots of private jets to fly Mr Shiel around...

F@#% Essenscum. Now the druggies are going to buy a flag. This really pizzez me off. Maybe Shiel wants to bum chum with his mate Smith.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
