Not as exciting as the Viney comeback game last week but still an important game none the less.

On Saturday early time of 12:30 pm we play the easy beats in Frankston and it should be one way traffic.

Important game to keep our top 4 hopes alive (we are currently 7th).

I'm predicting a 90 point victory for the mighty Dees.

Match Preview

The VFL team are riding a massive confidence-boosting victory over the previously undefeated Box Hill Hawks following a two-game losing streak.

After losses against Richmond and Geelong, the boys had a break and refreshed before knocking off Box Hill last weekend by 39 points at Casey Fields.

Frankston won their second game of the season last weekend securing a 49-point win over the Coburg Lions at SkyBus Stadium.

Casey's inaugural VFL women’s team took to Casey Fields on Sunday, but despite a gallant effort, lost a thriller to Hawthorn by seven points. The Demons held a two-point lead at three quarter-time, but were overran by the Hawks, conceding the only two goals of the final term.

It's going to be a big double-header of football on Saturday afternoon with both VFL and VFLW teams aiming for victory at SkyBus Stadium.

Just to add... if you are an MFC member (including AFL with Melbourne support) entry  is $5.

Still looking for car parking info on the venue if anyone has it.

Cheers

Another strong side for Casey’s clash against old rivals Frankston.

What 's wrong with Hutchins he's taking a long time to come back?

With Weideman out I think T.Smith will play for the seniors and Morrison will take his spot in the VFL.

With Tyson as the carry over emergency that should be 15 AFL Listed players for Casey today. I feel sorry for Frankston, they're gonna get thrashed.

You going to watch the slaughter?

I'll be heading down today, the Franga supporters crack me up.

Yeah mate, looking forward to it.

As a Frankston boy I've always barracked for the mighty Dolphins in the VFL, but obviously have split loyalties on this one now! That Casey side is ridiculously strong for a VFL team especially compared to a team that went out of existence recently and doesn't have an AFL affiliate.....huge mismatch will be a smashing. Man I used to hate Springvale back in the day too....

Crownbet has the line at 47.5. Surely casey win by something closer to 100 points

My first time down at Frankston Park. Overcast but doesn’t look like we’re gonna see much rain. Ground looks in pretty good nic. Has a real feel of local footy about it rather then a VFL game. Keilty said he’s looking forward to getting abused over the fence just like the good old country football days.

Watching Corey Wagner do his individual warm up before the game, man that dude is super skilful. Probably deserves to still be on an AFL list.

Not sure how that helps Tyson improve his disposal by not playing.

Hutchins is returning from injury. Playing for Mansfield in the GVFL.

Don't think missing one game is going to have any effect on his disposal in anyway.

That's true, but if you are dropped because of a weakness, usually it is to allow you to work on it at a lower level.

Unless disposal and form have nothing to do with his demotion.

Got yo speak to Jawlings, Plapp and Goody before the game. That was pretty cool

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
