The AFL will roll over and allow both Curnows to play Sunday. They have neutralised their Integrity department and are now making it up as they go. May got off because his team is playing in an exhibition game in China. Without May, it would be an utter bloodbath, not just a slaughter. The Curnows play for a quite popular big club who've just had their first win and the AFL don't want to stall their progress.

BINGO, Just now reported both got off with fine. So umpire fiddling is now ok.

So you can make contact with an umpire? I’d like to hear how Ed’s wasn’t intentional.

Both were intentional. Charlie admits he is shepherding people from the fight. He claims he didn't see the umpire??? he is running towards the guy in fluro green!

Umpires around the country will be stoked with this ruling. Push an ump in the chest whilst looking away and Bob's your Uncle.

Tommy Bugg would have been remanded in custody had it been him.

push an umpire away from a fight and you can claim you were shepherding him for safety reasons

These are two absolutely incredulous Tribunal decisions.

They make absolutely no sense at all. Both clearly intentionally touched the umpire.

Hawkins must be livid he was advised (presumably) to plead guilty, if this is the way the Tribunal assesses things.

Is anyone really surprised?

The AFL loves Carlton and is determined to favour them at every opportunity.  As evidence I offer you the number of Thur/Fri/Sat night FTA games they have been gifted.  I also offer the number of Home games (vs some high member teams...good for the $ coffers) at the G (somewhat at our expense).

Integrity?  Pfft!  Consistency? Pfft!  Impartiality?  Pfft!

This is Carlton folks.  This week is their home game and need to get people thru the gate to bring in the revenue.   Whatever helps Carlton the AFL deliver!

Surprised?  Nope!

Meh...

Carlton are a joke of a club.

We win either way

My frustration has nothing to do with us playing Carlton this week. In fact, I’d prefer we get a full strength opposition to ensure we approach the game seriously.

My frustration is that the MRO/Tribunal system is dishing up inexplicable and inconsistent decisions on a far too regular basis.

Either they both get rest for a week, or the AFL's double standards are (again) on show for all to see.  Plain and simple!

Double standards are core values at AFL HQ.  How many hundred dollar bills can fit into an average Visy brown paper bag?

Now, at least for us, time to move on and crush these bastards this weekend.

Interesting to be a fly on the wall in the tribunal deliberations. Especially the second one which took longer.

"OK so Charlie's excuse of not seeing the umpire and trying to get players away from the fight was a good one. We don't have another angle where we see him make eyes directly towards the umpire so its all good"

"Now Ed is a bit more tricky. We should also take a bit longer to show that we're taking it seriously and considering actually giving him the week. He does see the umpire and reaches out towards him. Lets just say that he didn't mean to make contact and they were all happy shaking hands at the end of the game so that ones all good too"

"Carlton and more importantly the AFL/$$$ will be pleased with our work here"

Unbelievable. I even feel sorry for Hawkins. That is a farce and Fitzpatrick is not even there anymore.

We must join together with Geelong and other unaffected clubs to protest this horrendous error by the AFL; this is a corrupt outcome and surely affects us all.

I never thought I'd say this about Cats or Hawkins... But I feel bad for both.

Classic AFL inconsistency. AFL is a bogus organisation.

At least they are consistent in their inconsistency

This could also work in our favour as well, you would think the umps would not be a very happy bunch right about now, so maybe they will be on our side for once?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
