Is worrying drop in ratings the same as dramatic drop? Or were they generally not great to begin with?

Last year Bartlett was rating 4.6 and 4.7

This year ... first it was "he hasn't been there for the whole ratings period", and "he was off doing the gridiron" and "the world cup ate into ratings generally" ... but now there's nowhere to hide.

Usually SEN ratings vary by noise but when other slots are going up or down by 0.1 and Gerry goes down by 0.7 ... it's not Hutchy's imagination any more.

I think his "Jon Faine lite" format is not bad. It's his lousy nose for news, and his inability to engage with callers.

I see. Honestly have barely listened to his show, never get the chance. That is interesting though.

Made a complete idiot out of himself with Steve Smith, state of the game agenda and Andrew Gaff incidents. Can’t engage with callers, know it all. Go back to ABC

Wow - This has got to be the worst thread ever ! ( and thus site has some shockers)

This thread is the biggest load of crap. People complain about plenty of others but this one is a doozie.

Loves the sound of his voice (which ironically is freaking annoying) way too much. I’ve switched off.

Kane Cornes is better and that’s a pretty low bar to set

Get out! ?

Yes they were. Nathan swatted them away easily. He said "Ah hear someone 'round hereabouts is saying some downright mean things about mah mag-pahs."

And Gerry said "don't shoot me! I'm only the piano player!" Cut to ads.

Doesn't like any sort of scrutiny or to be made accountable. The fact that he got his knickers in a knot are a sure sign that the questions raised a valid point. Colonwood do have an issue with illicit drugs at their club that they haven't dealt with as they continue to have players testing positive to coke. 3 players in a few years, I think Whately was well within his rights to ask the question.

Agreed.

Coke stays in the system 2-3 days, so if a player is having a sniffter on a Wednesday or Thursday night during the season.

There is a major problem.

West Coast proved that

Cocaine can also provide an added sense of awareness, alertness and energy. The more pure, expensive stuff -- undoubtedly the chosen kind by young men with lots of disposal income -- lasts longer and is rightfully classified as performance enhancing. Any athlete caught having taken it hours or even a few days before an event should rightfully receive a heavy penalty.

Collingwood can't hide for much longer. If they go all the way, their flag will be tainted, and people still start digging even further. It'll unravel soon enough and the questioning was only the beginning.

Dare I say Dane Swan maybe Collingwood's Pablo Escobar?

As do all clubs 'Bonkers'...

It's the elephant in the room and the AFL don't know how to handle it.

Just heard the interview for the first time, definitely nothing wrong with the questions, I'd like to see the heat applied to Eddie though.

Gerard copping it of late, David King in recent weeks and ratings going down.

I think he's more suited at ABC, cricket and racing is his niche.

Ah yes the collingwood drug party canard.

If it has even a skerrick of truth it'll be swept under the carpet. Ain't no way Eddie is going to let the Flagpies have a tainted flag

Unless he was snorting lines right before the game (and a cheeky one at half time), it ain't performance enhancing

Yes, it is a societal issue generally Rjay at the moment and no doubt our players like any other clubs would most likely dabble in illicit drugs. We would be naive to believe otherwise. However I don't see any other club in the AFL or any other code for that matter having 3 of it's players being suspended for cocaine use in the last few years. I believe all AFL clubs would be tested at the same frequency throughout the year.

Maybe it's just me, but I find it rather ironic that someone calling themselves Barney Rubble, would refer to anyone as a moron.

Hahaha yeah true. OP has a lot to answer for.

I don't mind Whately, but he has these weird awkward silences when talking to callers, which is quite cringeworthy.

In general though, he is much better than most.

He's not one for the common man Whately. I've always seen him as super pretentious and not nearly as smart as he thinks he is. Also, his interest in horses borders on the perverse.

But other than that he's great!

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.
