Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

@Demons11: you must be new around here. We don’t try and look for reasons why the unpopular player might retain his spot and explore what the coaches see that we don’t.

What we do here is conclude that the hopeless coach doesn’t know what he’s doing and the player must have compromising photos of said coach. Don’t you know that’s the only logical conclusion?

To be fair Nash, even as a perennial optimist, I'm failing to see what ANB is bringing to the side at the minute.  Obviously it's something, as Goodwin is keeping him in the side, but hanging our hats on the fact he runs up and down the field heaps during a game doesn't make for a compelling argument.

I understand why they dropped Hunt - it's a like for like move with Salem - and there is no need to break up a winning side that has done really well over the last fortnight, but he's on thin ice with Viney waiting in the wings you would think.

I actually can't believe they dropped Hunt and ANB keeps his spot. It does make one wonder about favourites and such but I hope that is not the case.

Called the Hunt omission.

Good decision, hes given us literally nothing.  Running fast does not count.

Thought he has lost a bit of pace of late actually.

Two completely different players playing two completely different positions and roles.

Salem for Hunt was a no brainer.    ANB is lucky though, thats for sure.

Haven’t compared figures from last year but looks like he’s bulked up and possibly slowed him down?

Possibly Febes, just noticed a couple of times this season, situations where in the past he would of run a player down from behind, he has struggled to catch them.

I suppose the selection makes sense, Hunt has become predictable as he bombs long to the same spot every game whereas Neal Bullens kicks can go anywhere in a 360 degree direction, I think this unpredictability is what’s keeping him in the team, keeps the opposition guessing......

ANB must be doing things that are not showing up on the stat sheet. Maybe he's taking an opposition player and running him into the ground? I've watched him closely every game and while he does apply great pressure up forward, the things he was doing so well last year are way down this year. For him to really impact a game he doesn't need to accumulate the ball often but he does need to use it well, more inside 50's, one %'s and even thought he might be putting pressure on closing in (wish we could see those bloody pressure act stats) it would be good to see his tackle numbers increase.

I do wonder if the opportunities to play his role well have been effected by Melksham who is similar and not having as much time in the midfield this year. He seems to struggle to stay as involved which may be due to less time in the middle.

PS Harmes IS best 22. He has played consistently all year bar the Hawthorn game (where everyone sucked) and is our most physical player at the moment. Has a lot of attributes and keeps improving as a 22 yr old.

I think this is our 4th game in 17 days so I am tempering expectations.  Obviously a win is paramount and I will take it any way it comes.

I think we can probably let go of this issue now. It hasn't affected Richmond,  it hasn't affected Collingwood and it surely hasn't been responsible for Essendon's form.

In any case its 4 games in 18 days, or 5 games in 27 days since the Hawthorn game!

As I see it albeit after a cheroot or two ... both Hunt and Garlett are victims of the press.. neither have the room to exploit there biggest asset .... their pace... Hunt runs into the wall or the opposition make him turn to the boundary and his hook kick is picked off .....and Jeffy spends all day chasing shadows rather then run into th paddock... they have been marginalised... best 27 or 28

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
