Is Brayshaw more rounded than the Trac?

It’s like comparing Hogan and TMac.

Both have different strenghts, but compliment each other.

"You're really good at footy, Jesse".

"You're really good at footy too, Tom".

Sunday's game was the start only for Brayshaw. I didn't like his pre season games and at the time wondered if he would live up to early expectations. Unlike Oliver and Viney, Brayshaw, Salem and Petracca have only shown fleeting glimpses of their talent.

Worth a double like... hilarious ???

Reminiscent of the Steve Waugh vs Mark Waugh debate - one of them you want to watch for the rest of your life whilst the other is (or will hopefully be) the one you want to bat for your life.

I was pleased/impressed that from the start of Sunday's game, Angus stood Jack Steven - the only possible candidate for an 'A Grade' midfielder at the Saints

To think that the Brayshaw thread three weeks ago was screaming for him to be traded at fire-sale prices...

We're a fickle bunch.

What is the purpose of this thread? We have two of the best prospective genuine A-grade stars of the game and posters are splitting hairs about kicking ability, tank. Their respective abilities complement each other and the team.

It's unseemly and demeaning for our boys and the club. Posters on this thread should show some respect, be grateful for our good fortune and do all to laud both Gus and Tracc.

Beelzebub got it right. They're different. Happy to have both. +20 from me.

Dead right as Beezle suggested: Happy to have both, don't want to lose one of the two. Different skills, different games to play.

All sentiments based upon fickle performances at the team level.

Hopefully one becomes Brayshaw and one becomes Petracca. Who needs more.

Leave them alone.

Might not have both at seasons end... gotta re sign yet and Superfooty is saying he will wait and see before committing.

Petracca will be a better player once he has his dogs shot in a paddock somewhere.

Brayshaw not signing a contract, which is being reported on the herald sun website.

I have heard he is looking around.

Yes before he was bitten by his dog he had career high disposal count, what difference 2 week make.

Where? Media would be all over it if true

I have been told this from someone I know.  Vague answer I know but may not be as straight forward as we were all expecting.

Strange he’d be looking as club has handled him well through concussion issues and now he’s finding form and gelling with max in the middle. Unless there’s more to it, but I don’t think I believe it. Other clubs may be interested in him but not the other way imo, but I don’t know

North will be all over Brayshaw like a rash.

They have a lot of room in their  cap and a first round pick on offer.

They could offer him 650k plus and we would have to match it.

I’m with you, I can’t understand why he would want to leave.

The only thing I can think of was him not playing early on in the season and Money

He's trying to increase the $$ in his next contract. Understandable, given his asking price would be pretty low at the moment.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
