Heard a couple of the commentators say that if we persisted with the long kicks down the line we would get badly beaten. Guess what?

Rocket Science 101 really

Shame we have no Rocket Scientists in charge

Yep, we've got a mixture and ended up with Hawthorn and TWSNBN as well. But i had my revenge and never nominated the Aliens for MCC membership.

On a other point, these humiliating losses have stopped our membership drive in its tracks.

It will be hard to count the cost of th every last 2 weeks, but on field failure has probably reduced our turnover by between $150,000 and $300,000.

More poor performances will see this cost mount.

In addition to this, what exactly does this football club do to justify getting two blockbuster games each year? In what way do we deserve these fixtures more so than a St Kilda or a Bulldogs? The criteria usually comes down to one of two things: Sky high membership and/or performance on the field and right now this club shows none of that. We haven’t been in the finals for 12 years for crying out loud!

I’m sorry if this upsets some people but I could totally understand if these other clubs were frustrated at us getting these opportunities on a regular basis when we probably don’t deserve them. We are what we are and that is a mediocre football club who doesn’t really know anything about the big stage.

Even though I hate to say it , Richmond are an awesome team who will go very close to winning the whole thing again and we are just a middle of the rd team who may never get to the level of the top teams.

It just may never happen for us no matter how much we as supporters hope for it.

Sorry, dunno why it quoted you twice

But, you hate to say it, I hate to think it, but the Tiges, without doubt are the real deal

Their i50 forward pressure was ridiculous last night

Agree Tigers speed and willingness to really run, made a big difference.

Other big one was look how many easy goals they got due to our backline structure, at least 6, either due to not having someone in the goalsquare or our other favourite, 4 defenders trying to mark or punch , leaving Tiger smalls free.

I think Jeffy crumbed one for us, but even then the Tigers had a player on the goal line.

Speed on the wings another fast defender would help.

Yeh that's right. They were able to get more forward entries into dangerous spots where they could capitalise. A lot of our forward entries weren't that dangerous due to our skill level or positioning of our small forwards and our players being outnumbered. They were able to get cheap goals because they got numbers to the fall of the ball when they moved it forward as well as the pressure they applied. They outnumbered us at opportune times and hit hard on the break into open space. It's not rocket science what they do really, it's simple footy that makes sense and is paying dividends for them. I think I counted at least 4 goals that came from balls that were crumbed from a contest, a couple were directly from a spoil or one of our players coughing the ball up due to pressure. The little things make a difference over a whole game of footy and it cost us big time last night.

Where's the fookin improvement? Our team is like swiss cheese ,plenty of holes in it. Weed's may show signs upwards but surely we should be playing Pedo in his place until T.Mac at least comes back. Pedo can play a loosing  ruck role which is gotta be better than the oppos. feeding off Gawn. When is Nathan Jones going to come out and make the bold statement ( a yearly  event ) stick by us? I hate with a purple passion when Nat comes out in support of a fellow player who is under the pump to perform. We only have one decent mid in Oliver and as a result we are going to find it hard to win matches. Not too many players have stepped up,so we will end up with revolving  doors again at selection. Definite changes for next week N.Jones bench, Vince drop and never to return (never reinstate Lewis)  Weed drop, play in reserves as forward/ruck(min. 6 weeks).ANB drop never to return. Wagner drop never to return. We may need to change playing roles for Lever, use as a forward.Jetta, use as a forward.Petracca in defence. Gawn use in defence. Pedo,Lever ruck work.Remember the T.Mac/Pedo ruck work in 2017 was a goer. I hate this fookin club. How can get off this website for good?

The worst part of my night last night was having to sit in front of an endure the worst afl supporter in history... EVERY single play where we won out, had to be a free kick... not most... but every one! I know all of us are one-eyed at times but this guy was so bad I'm surprised he didn't have a parrot on his shoulder and a peg leg..

He kept referring to Jeffy as a cheat so I turned around and asked him to explain himself. He said "it's cos he always cheats out the back for easy goals". I told him to re-educate himself on how the game is played and look up what a "crumbing forward" was.. Everyone around me kept sighing and rolling their eyes whenever he opened his mouth.

Then of course he moved on to comments about the ski season. Why are Richmond supports all so arrogant? In the end I was hoping we got up purely to give him the send off he deserved....

They're not arrogant. They're just not very bright. Even before they won the flag they were like that.

Look Richmond are the premiers and playing like it. We're a side that just missed the eight and trying to improve without two of our best five players and playing like it. The next four weeks will tell the tale, there's plenty of sides around where we are.

I’m pretty sure that twice now ANB has tried to kick the ball off the ground in the Members’ pocket only for it to go out on the full.

I slammed the remote on the ground when he did that.  Anyone with half a brain cell could see the play was to ensure it went out of bounds to force the thrown in deep in the pocket.  But no, instead of doing that he flings a boot at it under pressure only for it to go a few metres and end up out on the full.  Couldn't believe he bothered and I can't imagine Goodwin would have been happy with it either.

Its almost as if he's a slow contested  posession midfielder thats been lumped into the forward line and told he's a small forward.

Half a brain...

So much for Nibbler lol

He actually did the exact same dumb kick just before half-time against Richmond last year (totally gave them a spark at half time). Scroll to 2:53 and you'll see.

I knew it.

Exact same spot too.

So similar that it's almost hard to believe.

I reckon he's a chance to get dropped this weekend.  Stuff like that, especially done twice, is almost unforgivable.

Tigers are playing better than last year.

Its no great revelation but we need Viney to get the midfield firing and TMc as the forward 50 Anchorman. Will make a difference.

The last couple of weeks has exposed a few players. Hopefully they just need some more games under the belt.

Weid to stay in the team. Showed promise.

What in the hell did the FD and the team do for 6 months in the off-season??

I’d say he’s a 99% chance of getting dropped.

This medium size forward line isn’t working.

Guys, the main problem in not on the field. Players divided. Not a happy place.

Yep coach is the problem. Playing favourites and messing with players form by dropping the ones he shouldn't and playing the ones he shouldn't. Needs to lift does Simon

Yep and last year they scored a goal.

Presumably Mahoney and Jackson are aware of the divisions and favouritism - are they working with or mentoring Goodwin to rectify or is it being left to fester.

I’m pretty sure he squibbed a contest too, maybe second quarter, would have to watch the replay to see and I don’t think I will bother lol

Are they also aware of how Gawn doesn't help out in a contest, even when he's 30 metres away?

I can't believe you gave the comments you quoted air time.  You're better than that.

Am I the only 1 that thinks T.Mac is needed down back our backline is a shambles. He plays key back with his brother and Lever goes up as the 3rd man and tell clowns like Wagner to stay down. Better than having a spud like Frost key back.

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
