Dee1987 277 Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 Honestly this club continues to be hard yakka I would love to see a strong well driven team that teams fear and hate due to success..... however I think I’ll never see it and beginning to lose interest in all the hard work that has been done to become relevant. This side always finds a way to put a dagger through our hearts. I’m beginning to question our depth? Quote

This side always finds a way to put a dagger through our hearts. I’m beginning to question our depth? Welcome to the club 'df'. I've been feeling that way for 15Yrs. Not the question of list depth, but just a cynic, about when if ever we will learn to overcome this Clubs frailties;... rather than the players that go out there so much, because both parts are key. It's the environmental culture that is the common thread in all Eras teams... since the the time of the demise our our last leaders who won us flags. It is the only part of the club that has never been turned over & freshened up. And it has effect on players, of all Era's. And the crowds emotions come across very clearly on game-days, so any negativeness is 'amplified' directly to the players... just as hunger is relayed to the Tigers players when the smell of 'footy blood' is in the AIR. The Tiger Army turn it on like a ZULU War Cry. And their players respond. 1 Quote
deebug 1,754 Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 Same, just thinking this club will never go to the next level Quote
SaberFang 7,151 Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 (edited) Not surprised my total disinterest in the club over the last 6 months was vindicated today, with yet another predictable dagger to the heart. I'm tired of wasting my energy, and spending my weekends feeling this angry, over a club with a perpetual loser attitude. The only thing innovative about the Melbourne Footy Club is their uncanny ability to find new ways to break supporters' hearts, even after a decade of abject misery. I said time and time again last year in all those close losses, those were the avoidable losses (at least 4 of them) that costs a team finals. The brain-fades, the last-gasp moments of laziness and stupidity... we all know what happened next. The result of next week's match will be telling. After their pathetic effort against Brisbane last year (remember how we missed finals by only a handful of goals?), what happens next week will tell me everything I need to know about where this team is at. Rogue 585 Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 Seriously? We just lost by a kick to the team that finished 2017 H&A equal top. 8 Quote

It wasn't embarrassing. It wasn't a bad, low scoring performance. We lost by more to Geelong last year. I'm not saying it was a good day for us. But it wasn't a bad day for us. Max Gawn's miss HURT, but it wasn't "depressing". I know following this club is hard. But our year isn't defined today. 3 Quote

spirit of norm smith 16,679 Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 Cats with no Mackie or Lonergan or Enright. Cats minus Dangerfield, clearly the best player in the AFL Cats lose Harry Taylor Cats blood 3 new debutants and 6 players under 20 games. WE STILL FIND A WAY TO LOSE. WE WERE FAVOURITES. WE GOT LEVER. WE GOT RID OF BAD CULTURE OF JACK WATTS. Yes no Viney or McDonald but I’ll take the Dangerfield v Viney/McDonald missing as a demon head start. Today WAS a failure 5 Quote
Goffer 256 Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 If we had won today the narrative would be a gutsy come from behind win, instead we’re the chokers who ballsed up a 20m direct shot to win. That’s what really hurts 1 Quote

The same people who are bemoaning the end of the world would have been on cloud nine had Gawn's kick not hooked left, and that's what I think is silly. 4 Quote
brendan 3,458 Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 Not sure how I feel at this point in time, was thinking top 4 was a possibility but I will now temper my expectations for a few weeks, could well be a similar year to last year great games scattered with a few brain fades, if gawn kicks the goal I might feel the opposite so certainly not the end of the world but I look forward to the response v Brisbane, should tell us a lot Quote

What 18,810 Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 You think you're fatigued now? We play Brisbane and North the next two weeks. Two teams tipped to finish bottom 4 that we should slaughter if we are finally serious. Hold on tight. 2 Quote

Nasher 33,686 Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 It's football. Your team disappointing you comes with the territory. Every single team, even whichever team wins the flag, will have moments in the season where they suffer massive disappointment. And I would have thought this loss, for a Melbourne supporter who got to enjoy the early half of the Bailey era and the entire Neeld era, this one was a pretty moderate pain to endure compared to the past. Despite the overwhelming disappointment, I really enjoyed the actual game of footy. 6 Quote
