Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 1

Only reason I can see Wagner was included is to release Hunt/Vince/Lewis/Jones into a full time midfield role today. On output and form, Wagner is behind a few who were not selected today. But Goodwin and co don't seem to select on output and form, as evidenced multiple times last year.

.....after all the previous posts, LT has hit the nail on the head!  My guess is Bernie goes to Ablett, leaving Selwood all on his own in the middle.

Tyson is no loss as his turnovers will kill against Geelong.  He can get away with it against lower sides, who can't hurt on the rebound, but this mob can.

Best of all, is that when the likes of Brayshaw have their wisdom teeth out during the week, that we can afford to rest him due to the new found depth on our list.

Geez Beetle you didn't think I was serious!

The quote came from the MFC when announcing the side.

Knowingly, you mean like @Tough Kent and his ANB report, off legs for a week?

I was never asked directly, I reported that Viney, in one of his first full sessions looked on track for Rd 1,  which he did, this injury like McDonald flared in last week or so, interestingly I hadn't been to training during that period to report otherwise   simples  so NO is the answer to your question

There a couple of posters  garbed in white hoods and carrying a burning cross who seem to  have an inability to put me on ignore, so they are twisting my words

You really are a sad old man. You can't handle that others may be privy to information that you are not.

In defence to Saty.....Gary Lyon himself stated that he was chatting to Tod Viney at training 6 weeks ago (as mates) & he said that Jack was right on track.  Something obviously flared up after that.  However personal attacks against posters in general (not just Saty) remind me a bit of the very topical Aus cricket team.  Can we leave the “sledging” out of it & just talk about the team & team performance.  I disagree quite vehemently with the “hand ringers & doomsayers” but respect they are entitled to express their opinions & have a place to vent. It becomes incredibly childish & vindictive on this forum when we lose ......

Thanks lovey, it means so much, used you as an example of providing incorrect information, which I was accused of, we were both wrong, but not deliberately

Why ageism all the time, millenial envy?

What’s money got to do with it?? They recruited him as an intercept backmen not someone who can play on Hawkins

Freed up Lever to play the role he is accustomed to. That's what. Your comment shows a complete lack of knowledge of the game quite frankly.

Yep summed it up beautifully!

Whatever your views, we are all devoted Demon fans who are passionate about the club.

We all have personality differences and differences in how we communicate.

We can observe and come to our own conclusions but does it make any difference to ventilate our views about others?

None whatsoever.  Are opinions or comments about footy all that important?

I noticed one particular bearded gentleman on Sunday who gave up his time voluntarily to assist staff outside the ground to hand out members scarves etc. Pretty good effort and reflective of the passion of the accused. I don't know how long he was there for but I would not mind guessing that he would have missed some of the game. This suggests a person of very good intentions, irrespective of his views or comments on this site.

In the 2nd half Lever did everything we needed him to do.  The fact he had a poor first half, has nothing to do with Frost being in the team.

You are kidding me...the bloke was forced to play one on one and was caught out of position  as he had no idea what he was doing. Honestly, I am.not going to continue this debate. . If we went Lever to be an intercept mark, he can't be used as the key back. He didn't make a name for himself as a key back.

Geelong scored 17 pts in the 2nd half, so I think he and the rest of the defence worked well after a terrible first half.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
