You believe it was a closed fist....on what basis .... on that clip???

Who was the scumbag who did Bernie Vince last year and wasn’t penalized a penny?

I wait, with no real anticipation, Michael Christian applying his high moral standards with consistency and without bias during the remainder of his reign.

Yes, on that clip, it's the only footage I've seen. I also said "I believe" and also stated that I thought it was a joke to get fined. I'm not arguing what happened last year, it's irrelevant to this years penalties.

My point being, if Michael Christian is stating that it was a closed fist, no matter how soft, and the MFC obviously aren't contesting that fact, then we have to wear the fine. Christian has set a low benchmark for punches to be fined, now he has to show that he is consistent throughout the year. If he is consistent, we have nothing to argue about, let's give it a few more games, should see another punch/jab by then, and see what happens? ?

I'm yet to see any jabs like Clarrys in JLT (it's only practice games I know) maybe the AFL sent a serious message to clubs Not to jab, as they will literally fine each instance.

as if the afl/mrp would ever be consistent - ha

Agreed, consistency is going to be the issue. I am already sure that it will be consistent, except for teams like Collingwood, Carlscum, Essendrug, Whoreform, Geelong and GWS. NO worries. That is all we can hope.

More like a bruised ego as Oliver beat him so easily.

Surely there isn’t improper use of medical reports to gain a tactical advantage?

Even the AFL would smell that rat?

I suppose it could for an incident where an injury is incurred but I don’t see how it could be for something like this.

Looking forward to watching how some of the better orchestrators of the Medical Reports, continue to perfect/ embellish  the practice.

A week or two before the finals, hope we aren’t up against Adelaide or Carlton who we may run into a week or two later.

In bits and pieces of Footy I watched over the weekend Shaw from GWS and Heaney from Sydney threw a few (comparitively) heavy hits at one another.

They should both get (comparitively) heavy fines if there is going to be consistency. I will watch for news. If they don't get fined the AFL and Christian and the MRP can go suck a big fat one.

The thing that irks me is if Oliver transgresses in any way he's already got a record. He goes from a naughty boy to a very naughty boy

It was even less than that, it was laughable as a decision. Pure prejudice.

The Oliver fine set a strong precedent that they have already ruined.

Well put. Indicates a lack of attention to detail, doesn't it?

Bugga the Browlow, we want Silver Cups.

Brownlow's dime a dozen, in comparison. :)

I think he should challenge that.

There's only one of each given out each year (unless there's a Brownlow tie).

The reaction by the Bulldogs player is classic. Akin to a child looking to see if anyone is watching before starting to cry.

Not condoning the cheap shot by the Eagles player but the other guy should go for bad acting !

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
