@Fat Tony on Friday.

"The Age reporting Ablett has hamstring tightness upon hearing the news Jack will be right for Round 1."

It wasn't really a joke, was it?:)

SEN reporting that he’ll definitely miss JLT 2, cats saying ‘hopeful’ he’ll play R1.

Either way, he’ll miss a couple weeks of training...

Not looking good or him, his body is a mess it seems.

He could of course play Round 1 and destroy us. Hes still an amazing player.

Despite his age Ablett is just one of those players that I don't think missing training matters.

Even if he isn't 100% fit, they can still stick him in the goal square where he can cause plenty of problems for us.

I'll believe it when he isn't named in a months time.

Its wishful thinking for Ablett to not play round 1 which is still a month away - plenty of time to recover from a hamstring strain.

They were never going to take him to Townsville vs GCS for JLT 1.  JLT 2 is just up the road in Colac in two weeks.  He could easily play a quarter or two in that game and/or play a VFL practice match before round 1.  He has had a better preseason than Viney who we hope will play.

There will be much talk of Ablett/Viney playing round 1.  If they play, the play.  I think we can beat Geelong on our merits regardless of who lines up for either team.  If for no other reason that Geelong do not play the G well - Time to reclaim the G as our fortress!

You know what, I'd rather he play - will get another 15,000 bums on seats and I'd rather beat their full strength side.  Better test for us and who doesn't want to see Viney, Oliver, Petracca v Danger, Selwood, Ablett?!

I'd rather he play too. The more Corio Filth at the game the better.

Just look at the trend of the last three years up, up and up we would have played finals last year other than for a extraordinary bad run of injuries.

Since then we have added more talent to the list and the kids have another year and pre season under their belts.

Up again in 2018 and we will start the season with a win.

I get that and that explains the loses to Geelong and Richmond. I just can't get past the loses to Fremantle, Hawthorn, North x2 & Round 23. Hopefully a years extra experience will overcome those demons.

I know I am focusing on the loses and not the amazing wins against Adelaide and WCE it's just that those losses stung.

We will not win them all that is a certainty, there will be wins we did not expect and ones the reverse IMO we will win 14 -15 games this year.

of course we do need a reasonable run with injuries.

The hardest games on paper before the bye are Geelong, Adelaide and Richmond.

In each of those we go in with an even chance.

The first 11 games will probably determine our season . Turn 5-6 and it is over. On the other hand turn at 9-2 we can start to seriously worry.

My concern is that we rarely have easy wins. A combination perhaps of inadequate forward line and leaking easy goals over the back. I have a feeling we may just get our forward structure right this year and as to the other .. who knows.

Of course I have often been known to be wrong when it comes to the MFC.

To my thinking the best thing is he plays and twinges it early in the first quarter.

If not for injuries, especially to Max, we would have beaten them early last year and same with the Tiges as well.

Why would we worry if we were 9 wins 2 losses?

Our inaccurate kicking didn't help us either. We could have put the game beyond doubt at 3/4 time even with Maxy's injury.

Life is much easier when we stuff up like we usually do.

The tension that goes with success is something we rarely have to deal with as MFC supporters.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
