I haven't seen any of this. Easy to look like a superstar in junior highlight reels but really we shouldn't be wasting our time on weak slow 170cm kids

Yep , yet some were comparing him on this site to Caleb Daniel !! Give me a break give me Caleb ANYDAY!

That's my opinion! lets review at seasons end, Maybe even after todays game. If I'm wrong ( doubtful but possible) I'll eat humble pie.

You, you, you  bad-cop, you,   fence.

Are you superstitious  'fence' ?

NOW I SAY

Nar not at all superstitious, Now where were we...??

Oh yes thats right Young Spargo, Fine player, has all the tricks will play 200 plus games real footy brain, Just one little problem

No Pace, Cant lay a tackle, cant kick over a jam tin, and did I mention . He seems to be keeping out a player who has kicked over 300 goals. Name of Jeff Garlett.

But we dont seem to be able to fit him into the team.

Yep Spargo will be a great player no doubt!!

Don't you know how to quote  'PF' ?    The quote button on bottom left of posts.

Now jeffy ... a player. no...  an opportunist goal kicker...  is all he is,  and he is of the past.

Spargo,  a 19Yr old player who will get stronger,  and already has the fortitude that outweighs Jeffy.   He has the smart footy brain that will take him into future AFL footy.  He is level headed.

Garlett will come in for his cameo on Wednesday, i am sure.   just for you 'PF' .   And he'll be fed some goals... like a chick in the nest.

So you not superstitious then...

Wow

Well keyboards aren't my strength, But I get by!

Now Spargo, "Has a Fortitude that  outweighs Jeffy"  eh.??

Well thats great, he also has a smart footy Brain too eh, not to mention his level headed approach!

All Admirable qualities

But he lacks a requirement or two to play more than a handful of games at this level

1 Skill

2 Pace

3 Goal kicking ability

4 Height

Now, Jeffy has his moments, but hell give me a 300 goal PROVEN player to a 19 something could but probably won't be, for my above reasons!

Your Move!

I know it's early, but he just doesn't look to have any weapons. Someone of his size needs a point of difference, and I'm yet to see it. What's worse is he's being played in a spot that doesn't suit a player lacking anything that opposition coaches worry about.

And what worries me more is.. What such position should he play and would opposition coaches care any more??

Well done 'PF'. you found it.  Good.

I typed out a long reponse and sent it about an hour ago and it would not transfer to demonalnd. as if the site was down or I wa blocked or something then all may demanland tabs were not connecting. I thought the site went down, then I noticed my other tabs werr not updating.

My phones battery ran out, and shut down at that time of sending.  I lost the whole post, and I'm too tired now to bother trying again, to go thru that again. I'm starting to see double. thats enough for me atmo.

Very sorry Charlie,

You have become very unwelcome, very unwelcome indeed.

Maybe try your luck at midget wrestling, or jockey? Not AFL, don't try that again.

Baffling selection today, even with the outs. He was just ok last year, but has been an absolute passenger this year.

He must be a really good trainer, selection not warranted at all today based on a quiet Casey game 3-4 weeks ago after omission and then a couple of weeks off with some kind of foot issue.

Again, what was his role today? Hardly saw him at the fall of the ball in the forward line, did see him deep in defence a few times. At least they had a plan albeit unsuccessfully with C Wagner for a while and that was to try and stick with Whitfield from the GWS half back line.

One of the traits people were harping on about when he got drafted was competitiveness. I don't see this at all, I see someone afraid of contact

Too small and slow. Gifted a game today over preuss and did nothing

Too small. Too slow. Lacks competitive intensity. Missed tackles. Kicking ineffective. Has the brain for footy but not the elite weapons required for a man of his size.  A good vfl or country footballer.  We Bypassed Charlie Constable which is looking like a big mistake.

Yep, I farkin love how he leads up and thinks he is a forward, but can’t  take an overhead mark, no matter how much space he gets, because he is such short [censored] tht the defender always gets a spoil in, as he has to wait for the ball to come down to  height of roughly 5 foot off the ground.

he has zero goal sense and crumbing ability. He can’t use the ball. He lacks genuine pace and can’t tackle. He looked okay in a good side last year and now looks like a potato.

what exactly does he offer and why was he brought in today ? He did nothing in the VFL to warrant a return. Hopeless selection. He should not play next week

Can you believe he was a second round draft pick? Jason Taylor passed on solid players like constable, petruccelle, worpel and miers for him! Taylor needs the flick

I’m not prepared to write him off just yet.

He’s a second year player, playing at a club in a world of hurt, getting zero leadership or assistance from his peers.

I agree he is undersized and he is currently lacking polish, but saw enough last year to believe he has the footy smarts to make it.

For all their experience, in comparative terms...Garlett and ANB have performed much worse than Spargo.

For those with short memories...just scroll one page back into this thread.

Midget , slow, no tricks, can’t stick a tackle, no lateral movement.

Not in same class as GWS  kids unfortunately.

Not sure what he offers us or why we got him?

thought Spargo played no worse than Jeffy, CWagner, and Lockhart did today. the difference was that was his first game in about a month, so what's the other guys excuses for playing so poorly?

Massive fail, Taylor surely gone given mediocrity of our recruiting!

Agree

None deserve a spot on Today's performance, and would drop all if returns from injury allow. Spargo was just lethargic tho

Lockhart was good v GCS 2 weeks ago, has potential but not best 22, perhaps worth a few more chances

None of them near GWS class however and we keep trading away our best picks.

Doesnt make sense to me.

So , simple, if you can’t get someone GWS class or ultra high quality, for Christ sake hang on to your 1st rounders.

Brayshaw and Petracca need to lift pronto or onto the trade table.

Lol.

Taylor was lauded as an absolute guru last year when we were going alright. Along with much of the rest of the FD.

We going like crap and all of a sudden Taylor is a head of recruitment flop.

Wow.

Wow.

It makes people reflect again...  in a different light of day.

The truth is no doubt somewhere in-between the two extremes.

Taylor does not develop the game plan nor is he responsible for the players efforts on game day.

He’s done his job better than most.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
