I buy an 11 game reserved seat membership each year. The money I have saved over the past 17 years of no forking out for a higher membership level far outweighs the cost of buying a GF ticket on the black market.

Why anybody would pay for a guaranteed GF ticket for a club that hasn't played finals for 11 years is beyond me, but each to their own.

I really dislike the idea of the club bleeding loyal supporters dry when it keeps on wasting money on boneheaded decisions such as paying players to pay for other clubs (Watts), or to not even play at all (Garland, Lumumba).

Hmm that is a big call MGDW.

Not sure I share your enthusiasm, he will need a lot more consistence in 2018 and beyond as just the first step.

Kids only play 2 seasons. Bursts away from packs. Wins ball out of the middle. Loves a goal. Takes a good contested mark. Kicks long. Strong core. Over confident cheeky bastard.

Yeah nothing like Danger..

Yes but only does it four times a season so far.

I strolled into a PO in Albury today

I had a fist full of bills to pay, you know water, council, electricity, car rego and 3rd party etc

At last resort I threw in my MFC membership , and said " What the Fluk " its only another donation "

I as usual expect nothing of this !

You are not alone puntkick.

However in 2018 I expect to make the finals noting less will suffice.

‘Noting less will suffice’ sadly sums up the expectations of we long-suffering Dees supporters.

not even sure I will be content with making the final 8 OD. I want top 6 and at least one finals win before I give this team a pass.

There are a lot of wet behind the ears kids in our best 25.

they still need a couple of years to mature and give match winning performances 80% of the time.

I am assuming of course that they all well most of them continue to improve.

I also think we are still a couple short of a top four side.

My prediction in 2018 is eighth and if injuries go our way perhaps seventh leading to a win in our first final.

Not sure what you are mixing with your coffee DF but can you let me know please.

I am a tea drinker, so never mix anything with coffee.

Fifty four years is long enough, OD.

If we are not aiming for a Premiership in 2018, then its another wasted year.

Plus we can not just roll over and lets the dogs and tigers win Premierships without having a serious crack at one or two ourselves.

2018 is the year of the Demons!

The team would be aiming to win the flag DF.

However I am telling you how it will play out.

This group is still short, 7th or 8th. in 2018

Have I led you astray in the past?

Hi All,

I just renewed my son's and my membership for next year and was talking with the guy about our current tally.  He said that as of today we are sitting on "about" 25,000 putting us 1500 ahead of where we were last year at this time.  Apparently they started a bit later this year hence the slow start.  He also said I should have my membership before Christmas. Good news all round!!

I just wish there was a bit more choice for interstate memberships. I try to get down to Melbourne every round 1 and a few other games, but the armchair membership gives you very limited seats, with no bar access in some cases.

That is a real weakness of interstate 'armchair' membership. However, the luncheon at their Richmond pub not far away from the 'G, hosted by the Club and Robbo last season, is a worthwhile freebie if you can get to that home game, around August.

Essendon reported a record profit of $5 million today. In a few years that will probably be $20 million as they "monetise" their membership base.

The AFL will try to cap football department spending in theory but that money has to go somewhere and somehow I don't suspect it's going into the suburban leagues. Perhaps they could reduce the price of their reserved seats?

Is AHG not re-signing an actual thing yet or just a bit of bluster at this stage?

Visions of 2012 when The Reach Foundation was front of jumper sponsor with MFC unable to come to any agreements with potential suitors (albeit following the Energy Watch debacle). Schwab likened it to UNICEF on the front of Barcelona FC if I recall correctly.

25,028 as of Nov 22.

Out of curiosity, I asked the club if the AFLW memberships were counted in the published count.  They are.

Now I wonder how much of last year's 3,000 increase was for AFLW memberships.  Any increase in membership is great - just note that comparisons prior to 2017 are not quite apples and apples.

Good  point - trident area is the quietest spot to sit..... If you make any real noise all you get is glares... least there is a bar close

Given the disappointment of missing out on finals, I think it will take a while for many 2017 members to come on board again in 2018. Perhaps the Watts affair will also have some impact. So good wins in the early part of the season are going to be very important. Supporters will climb aboard again if we have early success.

Agree with you, Hemingway. Those successes must come early as we will miss those getting back onto the bandwagon for what will be for them a shortened season. They will wait until the 2019 season and scream blue murder if they miss our GF appearance because of that in the 2018 season. Like the clubs inspired by the AFL, money speaks louder than sentiment.

Like MFC the AFL went to automatic renewals last year. Can't say it thrilled me as I stay well clear of automatic debits where I can.

On a positive note one can't say you aren't warned that they are going to hit your credit card. I have had three emails over the last month telling me that the membership will be renewed. Tomorrow is the magical renewal date so we should see memberships jumping up as the club based AFL members are included in the count.

I got a letter re. AFL Membership that gave me a few weeks notice regarding automatic renewal. Debits start this week i believe.
