You're more pathetic than I thought, I am annointed as a players favouritte by some on here, me I go to training to take few photos for the interstate supporters, have a chat to players and coaches.

I am Liverpudlian my little braveheart, care factor of 0 what other people think of me

I feel that having an up to date Membership entitles me to go to training and chat to players, mainly about footy, but sometimes Premier League, haircuts and Indigenous matters

Now you are sulking and not renewing your membershio make sure you tell the players that and the reasons why next time you talk to them

Sure Saty, you are a legend who all the boys love...... *chortle.

You are in fact ridiculed (behind your back) by some you think you are respected by.

P.S. your membership entitles you to a seat, a scarf, and not much else. All of us can have an opinion. Yours is no more important than anyone elses. If you didnt care what others thought you wouldnt keep replying.  :)

P.P.S, i thought you said "bye" ? You sure are clingy for an older guy.

Go Dees.

That would certainly influence some people.

A poster reported a while back that the cost to add the Grand Final Guarantee went from $80 in 2016 to $229.  That GFG increase would have been quite a shock to people who are used to buying it for $80.  Personally, I think that is a rip off by the club as my Redlegs membership which has the GFG built in went up by only a small amount in total.

For members who were already disillusioned/disappointed by the clubs performance/decisions that GFG increase (and other price increases) could well have been the straw that broke the camels back and it gave them just another reason to walk away.

Yeah wtf is the go with this?
Has anyone heard from the club?

I was going to get the Grand Final Guarantee this year (and in future years), more out of hope than any real expectation.
But $229 is crazy.  My interstate membership is only $145!

$229 for a gf guarantee is rediculous I think I would rather take my chances and if by some miracle we made a grand final fork out $1,000 for a ticket I think I would be well in front in the long run unless we pull off a hawks like dynasty

It went from $80 in 2016 to $120 in 2017. The big jump to $229 is for 2018... I expressed my displeasure directly to the club over the phone... particularly as it was included in my automatic renewal! I expressed the thought that an extra such as the GF guarantee should be something you opt into rather than opt out of. I was pizzed off because I’m in a position where I can’t really afford $458 for mine and my son’s guarantee, but I have the dilemma that I can’t ask them to refund it as I had promised my son that we will go to the GF if the Dees get there.

Is that an interstate membership Hardtack? And if so what does that give you?

cheers

Essentially it gives us admission to any Dees games played here in Sydney (or Canberra), the usual home games in Melbourne as well as a scarf, calendar etc. The problem is that there have been so few games here in the past decade or so and that a Canberra game involves a minimum of three hours driving in both directions and the added expense of accommodation.

Do you honestly believe we will make it to the GF next year though? I mean, deep down genuinely believe?

I get that your word to your lad is solid, but geez its a tough one.

I would have more faith in scalpers on GF day than i do in the team to get there. Call it 50 years of disappointment. You have probably been longer yeah? If money was really tight, i would probably wait till the very last week it was available to make that sort of commitment.

Almost $500 for 2 is big coin for a lot of us (Im a part time nurse so im hardly rolling in it either)

Respect if you chose to stick with it though.

I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place on this one Ding. The problem is, and this is my biggest issue, the GF guarantee fee is automatically charged with the membership renewal... I believe they should not have done that and that it should be something you opt into, rather than out of. If that had been the case, then I probably would have held off until later in the season.

My son has been through a lot having had an arthroscopy at age 13 two years ago, and more recently a full knee reconstruction after reinjuring the knee in what was essentially his first game back this year; so I think he’s had enough disappointments for one so young. If we make the GF and I couldn’t get seats after promising him I would, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself (not to mention the personal disappointment after waiting 54 years to actually see us win a GF... could only listen on the radio back in ‘64).

We can all guess the reasons for the non-renewals:

  • Round 23 capitulation
  • Missing finals
  • The post round 23 communication vacuum from the club
  • The early finals ticket brochure fiasco.
  • (and maybe for some the handling/departure of a fan favourite)

I think it's a bit early to talk non-renewals...

The way the season finished left a bad taste but I'm sure the diehards will be back once the dust has settled (for all the BS being talked) and membership will take a big jump as we head for finals and top 4 is in sight.

I've been in no hurry to renew but will soon enough.

Renewed yesterday, chose Nev Jetta for the player on my membership card.

The smartest thing the club ever did was start putting the 'Consecutive Years Membership' on the cards, there's no way in hell I'm breaking my streak.

(And I suspect, as the sour taste in people's mouths lessens the closer we get to the 2018 season, most die-hards will do the same. Might take a little longer than usual for some, and tbh I couldn't blame anyone for that.)

While R23 was a terrible way to end the year and some supporters were distraught about Jack Watts, I’ve supported the Demons for 50 plus years and will continue to do so regardless of wins or losses and players who come and go.

We have a massive upside in our younger players including  OMac, Lever, Salem, Hunt, Oliver, Petracca, ANB, Hogan, Brayshaw, and Harmes all who sit in 30-60 game bracket, that’s almost half the team. Another pre season into these players and as they move into 50-80 game bracket we should see them become more consistent, play out the season inc round 23, and then finals!

This team has the upside to be our best in the last 50 years, so fingers crossed, keep supporting the Demons and sign up if you can for 2018.

Just putting the current status out there (as we usually do at this time of year on Demonland) and to keep d'landers informed of club related stuff.

I agree most of the 6,000 diehards will probably renew.   There have been 7,000 additional members join since Roos’ appointment was announced.  They will be less resilient than the diehards and us on Demonland.

The club really needs them all to renew and renew their usually membership and not downgrade it to a lower level or to a 3 game membership.   The fixture has not helped this cause.  Not many enticing Home MCG games.

As always it is up to the coach and players to deliver - no 'mental weakness' against the lesser clubs, especially in the first part of the year.  No more three quarter efforts.

I truly hope we beat our prior record of 42,000+ but the current trend doesn't look promising.

The grand final guarantee is a bit of a con given the number of times it actually pays out for the MFC. At the reported price of $220 odd that would mean an unadjusted cost of $5k per GF appearance based upon our historical performance. I assume one also has to pay the actual $150 odd for the ticket itself.

At an extra $50- $100 one can think of it as a simple donation but it is now becoming serious money.

Would be interested to hear what other clubs charge for their GF lottery.

Re the Grand Final Guarantee -- if you want it buy your membership with it included before round 1 because then it goes from $229 to $299 per membership.  https://membership.melbournefc.com.au/packages/view/958/Grand-Final-Guarantee  There is only a limited number and once you have it you have 1st choice to keep it the following year.

As Diamond Jim says, it is now serious money especially when there is more than one family member.

ill be purchasing a reserved seat membership next year (after not renewing this year, due to financial reasons)

would it be viable for the club to offer a 1 ( or 2 or 3)  game interstate membership for victorian supporters?

A mate and I are going to a different ground each year (next year Alice) and I would rather some of the money I spend on travel and acomm go to the club.

I know I can book through the club but could this become a membership category?

I'm still feeling depressed after round 23 and need more recovery time!  Hence I will wait until the new year to renew.  Maybe others feel the same way.

My adult son and daughter have family commitments  and cannot afford to renew at this time of the year but I am sure they will be onboard when holiday/Christmas/back-to-school expenses are behind them.

Seriously???  That's a 150% increase on the cost of the GF guarantee last year!!!!  I was angry enough over the fact that they automatically renewed that guarantee that I paid $120 for earlier this year, with my membership, but now I'm absolutely seething!!

Just because u and others don’t agree there is no need to have a go at him.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
