It could’ve been handled like Woey and Goodwin et al would be under even more criticism.

Roost it is right that it’s been blown up by the media and Watts management.

Has it ?

The foundations of this debacle were laid some time ago.

A bit of cowboy diplomacy hasn't helped.

Those that suggest it could have been done very differently should consider who's involved.

It might have been done differently were different folk involved, but then its unlikely this would ever have occurred were they there.

Watts done is done.

Probably made mentioned already after 200 odd pages but this saga has been handled atrociously by the club. Why the heck would you come out a flame your own player. It really serves no purpose. There are a dozen other ways to say you are not wanted by the club.

Watts deserves to go to his club of choice even if it's for pick 60.

I don't get the Watts bashers on here either. He is not in the top 10 players on our list.. so be it.. I think most agree that finals will be won by the best bottom 6 or so players in the 22 not the top few. Not everyone of 22 will be super elite.

No, no, no... that's a refreshingly and completely new take on this whole sorry saga!

... sorry, couldn't help myself ;)

How else does a club move a well liked underperforming player on with the sharks and the media constantly circling. As a club you're in an impossible situation

Port Adelaide confirmed apparently

Jack Watts is an awesome talent.

Reckon we would be satisfied with Wines and their first round.

Any substance to the mooted trade with GC17 that @GCDemon put forward the other day where Port packaged up their late 2nds for GC earlys 2nd?

Like flogging a dead horse but this is a horrible trade for demons. Will be hard to get someone with the same foot skills at the pick we get for him (not impossible). As all the so called experts have said all year Watts is the cream on the top. Not everyone can be a Viney or Oliver. Would have been good to see Lever and McDonald down back and Weids, hogan watts up front and have McDonald and watts run through the ruck or switch back and forward.  If weids ever develops into a consistent performer like he has been touted to be (obviously only a 2nd year player) watts would have been great 3rd forward option. Very good kick at goal. Can’t help but feel - port being close to our level 5-9 this year will be far further advanced the us with the three they have brought in.. Will happily be proven wrong, definitely don’t believe it’s a dire situation but shipping a player out for the pick we will be getting isn’t ideal.

pick 31 straight swap I'd say

If you accept pick 31 for Jack you are as crazy as the MFC and Goodwin. Gee, this club lacks nouse. Pick 31, unknown and a lowly draft pick. Complete pig in a poke situation. Have the premiership Port. We are glad to help your cause at our expense! How do they do it? Three class players and we can only land one. They must have something enticing. Probably the location.

You're right, mate. We've been there and done that. Let's not go down that path again.

It's official

He has nominated Port

We lose slightly IF we aren't paying any of his contract.

But to free up 500k off our books means we can comfortably sign the boys that will take us forward.

You might need to look at changing that screen name, mate. I'd suggest staying away from Kent, Hogan or Tyson. :P

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
