Am I the only one concerned that we picked a bloke the drinks a lot and goes out partying with Jaime Elliot? ;)

On a serious note, a great pick up and a credit to everyone involved at Casey.

No doubt he is a talent,  be interesting to see what role a player of his size and skill set can play in the modern game.

so is the pressure already on this kid because he was chosen by the pick we got for Watts?

I really do not want the medal to keep bringing it up next year whenever he gets the ball that we got this kid with the paick we traded for watts.

On another note just looked at the AFL site. What the hell, Dom Barry has been picked by port at 61. Didnt even know he was still around the system.

Keeps the Casey pathway connections.

Motivator for the other young guns.

Casey has been amazing as an AFL pathway.  Look at the guys who have been picked up from there.  Silvagni, Mohr, McInerney, Smith, Keilty, and now Fritsch.  There may be others as well that I've missed.  That's a pretty great record for a VFL side.  I don't know how many others have produced that many mature-aged recruits.

Love his kick as well as his mark and he can run.

There's a lot more to footy than that of course but really it's the basis of AFL football isn't it?

Wouldn't at all be surprised to see him playing half back or rotating through a wing as part of his development.

Maybe the shoe will be on the other foot: "Gee, Port Adelaide really missed out by trading out pick 31" every time Fritsch takes a mark or kicks a goal? Anyway, next year is not the year to decide one way or the other.

No there will never be another, BUT, he does remind me of the great Robbie with a couple of his attributes.

I take full credit for getting this guy, by exposing all his faults to the other 17 clubs, who were scared to take him before pick 31.

Ha! I was literally just going to type, glad he is off the gear, has his licence back and still loves his Mum.

Never seen him play but he always seems to bob-up at the right times during the Casey gameday threads.

Is there a highlights package of his kicking around somewhere??

Could've had him at 37 if West Coast were scared off as well. Unfortunately the talks of substances, nights out and defects only made them keener.

Ive already talked Fritsch up a lot but I'll let his footy do the talking from now on. So happy we grabbed him 1 pick before WCE could. Literally yelled when we saw he was picked up by the MFC.

Can't wait to see Bull, Keilty and Fritsch all playing in the Seniors together next year:cool:

A phenomenal season with Casey and was red hot again in yesterdays final with another 4 goals.

20 years old, 186 cm, beautiful left boot, fantastic mark, great goal sense.  Sitting 5th in the VFL  goalkicking.

Could be Hannan 2.0, though his upside is even greater.

Get him.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
