I don't know where you got the 92% disposal efficiency, it certainly wasn't by foot.

Did you go to the game or are you just reading the paper.

The stat I found said he went at 91% efficiency with just the 1 clanger.

You might need your eyes checked.

That may have included handballs. His disposal by foot was abyssmal.

Kent

Tyson

Frost

Watts - I would keep and play as a outside wingman

Seem to be the only players that may get a nibble.

I wouldn't mind throwing T Macs name out ther to temp out a gun Midfielder if we are to secure Lever. We would have too many Tall defenders on our list - Lever , T Mac , O mac , Frost , Garland

91.7%. I rounded it off to 92. 91.7 felt too pedantic, but obviously not pedantic enough. In fact, it's 91.666 (repeating), as he managed to get 22 of his 24 disposals to their intended targets.

I think the core are: Hogan, Jones, Petracca, Viney, Brayshaw, Gawn, Oliver, Hibberd, Melksham, TMac, Hunt, Garlett, Jetta.

Delists: Lumumba, Trengove, Garland (contract pay out, staff job), Hulett, Spencer (UFA), Kennedy, White (R)

Rookie elevation candidates: Keilty, J.Smith, Maynard (but only if we have to). Looks like we're going to retain T.Smith, Filipovic.

There's other players I'd persist with who are still developing (e.g. Hannan, JKH, Weideman, OMac, ANB, King, Johnstone, Harmes, Wagner), have limitations but are depth (e.g. Pedersen, Bugg), have been injured (e.g. VDB, McKenna) or are experienced and have some limited footy left (e.g. Lewis, Vince)

Needs: We need quality, not more role players - Inside/Outside mid (like Gaff, Zaharakis, I.Smith), Lever.  I don't think another ruckman is vital - we can provide cover with King, TMac, Pedersen - maybe rookie a journeyman.

Tradeable: we'll need to give something with potential value - pick 10, 2018 1st, Tyson, Stretch, Kent, Frost

I'd like to retain Salem and Watts - despite their limitations they are just about the only players on our list (apart from Hibberd and possibly Weideman) who can kick the ball consistently well, but if it took trading them to close the deal on a real need then I'd do it.

Love your analysis fifty-5

Think you are confusing Salem, who may have had a couple of poor disposals early, with Tyson who turned over his first 5 possessions and ended up with 58% efficiency. Salem who ended with 92% efficiency and Watts are the only 2 players I trust with the ball in hand. Apology to Clarry who sometimes because he is so quick with his hands, delivers to players who aren't expecting it.

Don't think Bernie and Jordie can play in same side anymore and because of his costly mistakes, Bernie is the one to go. Tough but if we are to improve changes must occur. We are far too slow. They make us slower.

If Vince is offered another contract I will be absolutely livid!

It wasnt. But  his clanger was truly horrendous. After a mark and under no pressure missed a 15 metre target from deep in rhe opposition 50 and turned it over.

Vince should definitely get another year. He would offer much more than pick 111.

You don't trade an unwanted player, better to have him as Casey co captain with Trenners.

Not in a trade, but if we delist Vince we need to take another draft pick. We have enough players to go before Vince.

I don't think Vince had a great year, but he still has reasonable pace and played some good games. His tagging roles on Rory Sloane were excellent. Still best 22 (just) IMO.

In my opinion too. Salems disposal as usual was among our best couple. I am sure you confused him with Tyson or ANB who went at 58% and 47% respectively. Poor users of the ball.

Salem's disposal efficiency is fine, but he's not a long penetrative kick that threads needles with kicks that propell players forward to the space where he wants them to go, like a Watts at his peak. Salem does love to do many dinky little chip kicks that players have to kind of grasp at to mark. Perhaps that would be the knock on his 91DE? But he does hit targets. We need him to be a bit more creative and to do some bullet passes that allow our rebound to be faster. But this conversation should be a 100 miles away from a delisting thread, lol

Kent, Harry "O" Trenners, Garland, Kennedy, Bugg,  Hullett, White, Vince and anyone who effing butchered the ball on Sat.

Salem was a prime offender.

Hunt was never on his man. His running off and then butchering the ball left his man open for a rebound.

Who was meant to be doing the grunt work in the centre and stoppages. We lost most of them.

That performance goes down as the worst for the year. I am glad we didn't make the finals. It would have been a waste of money going to Adelaide Oval to see them thrashed.

Had we made it you'd have been off to Sydney...an equally waste of time as you suggest.

A lot of butchering on Sat. It was hard to watch.

You can only trade players if they are on contract otherwise they can just walk. We need currency for the forthcoming draft, don't be surprised if Hogan,Tyson,Frost,JKH,Vince and Frost are put up for trade. Huelett,Spencer,Trengove,White and Kennedy to go. We do need mids, I remember Hodge was converted into a mid. On that basis Joel Smith and Maynard may become future 2018 mids.

He doesn't have the tools to make it as a wingman, is short, slow and has poor foot skills

Stretch was an inside mid as under 18 the only reason he has been playing outside when he gets in the team is due to his lack of size and the fact we currently have better options for that role. With another preseason he will make major gains next year expect him to be most improved

Vince will definitely get another contract, I will just be livid if he plays like he has for large parts of this year and doesn't get dropped, more than happy to have him as a backup/ depth player

Not a delisting but I've noticed Weidemen like a couple of Collingwood posts on Instagram the last few days.. One of Daicos & Brown celebrating the win on Saturday (fair enough if not against us & the circumstances) & now one of Bucks resigning... Seems a bit odd

Are you serious?

for me a little harsh on a few . last 4 i would keep , unless a good deal was offered

but I think we might add someone from left field to try and really improve our list.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
