That's nice from the MFC's view, but for a club without a coach, GCS would be putting a fair bit on the line for a player like Watts.  If I were Jack's manager I'd strongly suggest he looks at clubs with very strong cultures; and the advice from the player and his manager will dictate which club(s) the MFC focuses its deals on.

Can't see that being a great move for club or player.

Melb making big play for pick 2 from GCS by using pick 10 and Watts and exchanging other picks. Back up for Lever going to draft. (apparently)

Swap Jack for a draft pick.....almost like if it doesnt work the first time ....try, try and try again! Why not.

Why would Watts want to go to the GCS? He doesn't want to leave Vic, he doesn't want to leave the MFC and can you imagine him wanting to jump from a probable finals side to another basket case? That rumour doesn't make sense

Byron is only just down the road?

Or to give to Crows as the deal. Pick 2 would be massive to Crows.

Very hard to see how that could happen when GC already have 2, 19, 22, 24, 33 and 37.  I doubt they are interested in 27.

Maybe 2 + 37 for 10 + Watts + 27.

We'd need something coming back in 2 for Lever - either 34 or 50.

I doubt that will happen, no chance. This could get ugly for the Crows if we get pick 2. They  either accept our offer and we retain pick 2 or we get Lever through the ND and hold 10 + 27. Lever wants VIC, Bris will pass. Big win coming for Dees either way. Now thats what I call ruthless Dees.

High draft picks are a big gamble. Look at some of the players we got recently eg Cale Morton at pick 4, Lucas Cook, etc etc. we should trade the high draft picks for good AFL- proven players.

Considering where we are in terms of our 'premiership window' and the gems we've picked up later in the draft in the last few years, I definitely agree that the focus should be more on established, proven players.

Love the name by the way.

If we get pick 2 then we don't have 10, so what do we give them if not 2?

2 alone is far more valuable than say 15 and 17 which is about what they are seeking ( 2 first round picks).

They could theoretically get the 2nd best kid in the country or on swap it for a player and a pick.

1 Jack doesn't want to go and we cannot make him go as he has a contract and doesn't have to do the clubs bidding.

2. Mahoney was very clear this morning that the club believes pick 10 and next years 2nd round pick is fair for Lever. So now we now MFC's official starting bid as opposed the Crows desire for 2 first round picks (they haven't specified which year these picks are in)

Agree.

However, we could use 2 in this year’s draft and send our 2018 first rounder + extras to Adelaide in this hypothetical.

And that would be an amazing outcome.

So we must have plans for another player with "this years" second round pick?

I get the feeling if they know we can get 2 then that will be the price.

I don't think they will want a future pick unless it is the extra.

They will want a highly rated kid now to appease the members, or a player from another club and a reasonable pick.

True.

But it’d be pick 2 from this year’s draft vs two first rounders from next year’s ‘super’ draft.

Which is a tough choice imo.

How would we get the second first round pick next year?

Unless JW is swapped for a late first round next year. Swans would do that, maybe with a bit of juggling, but he apparently wants to stay in Victoria ( and with us).

And given Watts, just yesterday, has said he wants to remain in Victoria is likely to be another Nixon hallucination.

Why do the media still listen to NIxon? He has less credibility than Mark Latham.

He was right about Watts leaving Melb and Coll interest. Everyone has a choice to believe/not believe.

Yeah its bull-[censored] - our current position would be Lever for 10 + 2108 2nd Round. However, if Adelaide want everything pushed into this year - which is not clear yet. The most likely candidate is Freo - we are a fair way down the track to securing balich.

So in theory

Melbourne get - 5 + 40 + balich

Freo get - 10 & 27 + kent

Gives us the opportunity to on trade 5 & 40 ( possible 45 instead of 40) for Lever & maybe ( 35 ???)

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
