Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Dangerfield - A true off-field intelligent unique AFL role model

This guy has his head screwed on and feet firmly planted on the ground.

The way he departed Adelaide was all class; leaving Judd, Ablett and to a lesser extent, the young pressured Scully in his wake.  Didn't lie.  Didn't ask clubs to present to him when his mind was made up.  Just didn't treat the fan like a moron.  Judd thinks he has a PhD on life, so difficult for Judy not to treat anyone like a moron actually.  Paddy could have got 1.5k a year, but prioritised family, heart and team success to accept 60% of his worth.

Danger's comments that supported the trans-gender community, squarely aimed at Newman and the carcass that is the Footy Show, was so accurate, that it flustered the unusually unflappable Newman.

Dangerfield' view of footballers walking media street and separating it from onfield events is so refreshing and un-Paganesque in an era of the media and fans investing in their (players) huge and well-deserved rewards.

He is so unlike the SEN simpleton.  He thinks with clarity and courage.  He gets a seat at my hypothetical last supper, with PJK, Roosy, Wallet, Julia Eileen, Ben Lexcen, Bevo, Rossy Lyon, Bruce McAvaney, BT (MC), Springsteen, Turnbull, Elvis, Lennon, and JFK.

The guy with the PhD and his trophy superficial wife can get take away.  (I withdraw this last line as I do not know them personally, and just went on the basis of a potentially flawed but usually correct perception)

I watched Dangerfield on Talking Footy the other night: smart, articulate bloke and far, far better than the other panelists.

Also very well regarded by people in Geelong

Had similar thoughts after Dangerfield's calm, measured response to Newman's daft little posturing.

Footballer of the past, meet footballer of the future.

Can't help wondering what Dangerfield will do after football. Or maybe he'll just surf and raise chooks in a nice home with a view of the sea.

I thought he sooked it up big time when they laughed at his buddy would kick 2000 goals statement.

But overall I agree that he is pretty good.

Wow i must be the only one who thinks Danger is an absolute [censored] of the highest order. Loves bathing in his own water and whats worse is we'll have to hear him more after he retires because he is the channel 7 golden child along with Hamish, Darcy and BT.

Has too much to say in the media and needs to focus on playing and keeping his mouth shut.

I agree with you DDavey, Danger is very bright and knows his football but I would suggest he not engage in non-football issues.

Why should Sam apologise? Political Correctness will destroy this country .

Bruce Jenner was a man who competed in the Olympics, was married and had children and now is now a fully functioning women. I'm confused to what he or she is meant to be.

Dangerfield likes his own work a little too much for me.

I'd prefer to listen to Maxy. He doesn't seem to be trying to posture for a long term media role, he has a laugh at his own expense, and he seems passionate about life in a way you can't fake. How good was it at half time last week when he turned to Peter Bell and said 'wouldn't mind you roving to me'?

I like Bob Murphy for the same reasons I like Max. Enthusiasm is infectious, and an ability to see the game as part of something simultaneously much bigger, and smaller, than life.

huh?

It's not hard. Was a guy, is now a girl.

He is now she.

This is not confusing in the slightest.

It's not like she's an owlkin listing her pronouns on Tumblr and biting off your head when you don't know to use 'phe' or something.

Having a go at a media personality who can't make a simple change like swapping a pronoun is valid in my book.

Just because you can't deal with something so simple doesn't mean others can't, or that the 'political correctness' boogeyman is to blame and will lead to the downfall of society.

Bob Murphy is on a par with Danger.  Both grounded but more spiritual and deep is Bob.

Was Brendan McCartney's greatest mistake the fact that Ryan Griffen was appointed captain and not a slightly younger Bob Murphy???  Or was it the way he treated the Stevens family, and Kobe in particular, leading up to his milestone game?

So which part of what Newman's comments about Jenner did you find offensive? I dont understand the backlash against him, hence my comment re: Political Correctness.

PS: I think Newman is a [censored] most of the time.

I didn't say I found Newman offensive.

I said it's valid to have a go at him because he couldn't work out a simple pronoun change.

IIRC Newman referred to her at "it". This is unacceptable.

Agreed, Newman is a tool.

So, you are endorsing that, for the educated, it is fair game to "have a go at" those that are uneducated?

Danger is a great player and an articulate person.  But he doesn't have a lot of cred with me.

Adelaide picked him up at pick 10, left him in school for a year for no benefit, put a lot of IP and footy smarts into him, developed him beautifully and then, I believe in the year Walsh was murdered, walked out on the club when they desperately needed him.

Homesick?  Give me a break.  Geelong is 90 minutes away, he gets multiple weeks holiday a year to be with family, he would have been as financially successful at Adelaide and perhaps equally or more successful in his playing career if he'd stayed.  There are literally tens of thousands of people in many walks of life that move from home to pursue a career and make sacrifices to achieve success.  But Danger was too precious.  Ran out on a club that had invested big time and done absolutely everything right by him.  But he was a little homesick so walked out on those that played a big part in making him what he is.

He like Judd is smart.  The media won't take him on.  Love watching him, respect him as a footballer but not a person.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
