It has just been announced that Jesse Hogan has testicular cancer. More to come.

Wow, can anything go right for this kid or what?

Wait, what?! Where did you hear this?

I don't know what to say.....completely floored by this.

Horrible news just broke on SEN.

Can't imagine a worse situation, other than to say it IS treatable.

Thoughts are with you Jesse.

Must have literally been diagnosed in the past few days.

Any information on this? Nothing on the website yet, or any major papers etc. Sorry just saw the above, hope they got it early and he makes a full recovery, footy should come last.

Barrett broke the story on triple m with permission from the club and hogan family

Wow that is horrible. Fingers crossed. Lance Armstrong had it and made a complete recovery when he was young.

Just announced on SEN, source is MFC.

Oh God, just heard on SEN. My heart just sank, fight on Jesse and beat this thing.

Feel free to delete my duplicate thread mods.

Horrible news especially in light of his Dad.

Absolutely terrible.

I'm no doctor, and neither are SEN, but they're all saying it's very treatable. Silver lining.

[censored] hell this club just seriously can't take a trick.

He'll get great support of Sam Rowe.

All the best Jesse.

What the actual f*#%! Hasn't this kid been through enough?! He's just lost his father to cancer, this is absolutely ridiculous.

I honestly don't know what else to say than best wishes Jesse. Take the time to get through this, be with family as well. I'm shocked and just cannot believe this.

Poor bloke.

I've actually known 3 people, all very young, to have gotten testicular cancer. Good news is that the symptoms tend to appear early, which leads to high survival rate. Once it's caught and cut out (normally removing the [censored]) it rarely returns. One cancer with an extremely high survival rate. The organ hanging out of your body tends to make knowing something is wrong fairly easy. Although one mate had pains in his arm and lower leg for a few weeks. Went to the doctor and they diagnosed that...

Never felt better using the "like" button.

That's [censored] dreadful. Poor kid.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
