GAME DAY - Round 4, 2017

Featured Replies

Too early to put in a request for a priority pick ;)

Good effort in Q4 - disgraceful Q3 where our coaches did nothing also, cost us the game.

I think at start of season we'd be disappointed with 2/2. If Lewis and Hogan were on we'd be 4 zip.

James harmes is a butcher of the highest order. Missed a set shot in the third and freo go on and kick the next 7 and he constantly under hits passes

Gotta say, that was a really [censored] annoying game. The ball would spill out and go their way. They would pump it into their forward line and look dangerous and we would do the same and look terrible.

Weideman has gotta spend some time at Casey. He did well to fly at the ball at times but simply doesnt give enough.

Hannan hasnt done enough since round 1.

Melkshem.... ffs. Just butchers it too often.10 kicks for the game. 4 Clangers.

Fyfe, Mundy, Neale, Sandilands. All so good.

I thought we got rid of Lucas Cook years ago.

Really, really could of used hogan and lewis today.

I'm not a big stats guy but I reckon when you kick all of 3 points in the 3rd quarter but let the other team kick 7.4 you aint gonna win many games.

Weideman obviously carrying an injury... Poor selection. Jones obviously carrying an injury. Spencer did well. Great final qtr. Melbourne of old in 3rd Qtr. Garlett exceptional given his opportunities.

Hope Pedo is fit.

Hope anyone is fit. Even Filipovic would've had a better game then the Weeds. Poor choice to drop Tim Smith

Great game to watch.

However, this is a reality check for us. We have work to do.

Spencer played fairly well. I liked Watts' game. Jeffy was great too.

However, Weid needs to go back to Casey to develop. Bring in Pedo to team up with Hoges next week.

Yea thats what people called for all week but the FD didnt listen

Can someone explain to me why the hell Frost got a game ahead of Oscar?! Frost is a defensive liability. Got torn a new one today.

No way oscar mac is worse than milkshake. Hannin and weeds both need to go as well.

Jesse Hogan just smoked a whole pack whilst sipping Martinis on his boat off Rottnest Island.-That was stressful for him.

I know how he feels.

That was a game of two halves, and also four quarters. It had it all.

Ross Lyon is a wily old egomaniac.Different outwardly to Roos but ultimately they are both stats men.

I'm hoping to see a lift in game day player switches during momentum shifting quarters like the third.

Im not comfortable with those lapses and I want it eradicated from our system .

So mad with our selection decisions right now.  For the fourth week in a row Weideman was [censored] useless.

Smith, Pedesen, Bradshaw, anyone would have done better playing full forward today.  In a game that we lost by 3 points playing Weideman has cost us the 4 point.

I'm putting all the blame on one player here, but I don't think it is unwanted.  I can excuse him getting out muscled in the air, but what I absolutely despised about his game today, was that when he lost the arial contest he gave NOTHING at ground level - looked almost disinterested at times.  Complete passenger - back to Casey and show some intent.

Every week is a new game... we might not even be this close next week... but we have no doubt that we would have been a better team today with T Smith or Pederson instead of Weed. We will welcome Hibberd with open arms when he is ready. Tom McDonald had an ordinary game... compared to his best. All focus should be on the third Qtr because we played reasonably well in the other three.

Goody needs to answer for that 3rd qtr as well. Static as hell. 7 goals kicked on us and nothing happened

The dockers never kick 100 points   But luckily for them they got to play against traffic cones in the 3rd quarter

If this result is what it takes, then that is disappointing.

The kid had a decent start to his career. He has had a taste. Don't bloody completely stuff his confidence now by playing him when he clearly isn't ready.

If the mantra is to give people games when they deserve it, sadly, Weid doesn't. It's not a whipping boy thing. It's just the facts.

The club realized Oscar Mc needed some time at Casey as he wasn't ready. The same call has to be made with Weid.

Weideman has got to go, injured or not... he has barely contributed. It will take a very good year at Casey before I am convinced he is up to it. I would rather see Keilty, Pederson, T Smith and even Hulett before I have to watch Weed again

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
