Yes, I was assuming we win the flag with the 'ish' as a small concession. Did you catch any of the latest season? I don't really want to spoil the ending, and it wasn't a realistic twist, but the Richmond Football ended up as the premiers.

What if  the  heavily tattooed man is the Richmond medals woman?

I didn't see any tattoos on her - just a premiership medal.

You want to throw Dustbin under the bus? You not satisfied with the previous hatchet job the media did on the poor kid? Anyway, it wasn't Martin. Judging by the responses on big footy to the latest incident the player wasn't a star player (even though he has been referred to as one in the media).

Not throwing anyone under the bus it is 1 of the 22 flag winners could be Townsend or graham it is 1 of them what I am saying is what if and how does that change their team

Melbourne should pay pick 10 (2017) and our second round (2018) for Lever and no more!

Why should we be trying creative packaging to obtain another first round pick, when Lever was:

1) Not in their top 10 B&F; and

2) Scored 1 vote in the Brownlow (same as O. Mac)?

Are you talking about Jake Lever or Jack Watts?

Kidding ...

Because, by even the most conservative estimates, we've offered him 4 years at $750k, which is an A Grade salary.

Adelaide are quite rightly saying

- you've made Lever one of the highest paid 22 year olds in the game

- we've developed him beautifully

- you're going to get 200 games out of him

- your '17 and '18 first round picks aren't particularly special.  10 & 12 are hardly rolled gold top 5 picks.

Whilst I agree mostly with what you're saying, and wouldn't be particularly fazed if we gave two first rounders with another pick back our way, it's interesting that rockliff on a 4 x 650,000 contract is, reportedly, deemed worthy of an end of round 1 pick only by the afl. Of course there are a heap of variables/differences but interesting nonetheless.

Did you just compare Lever, a future AA who has already been named in the AA squad to Oscar McDonald who so far has yet to prove he belongs on an AFL field? Yikes!

Is it possible to be a 'future' All Australian??

What, do you think we'd get a better player at Pick 16 next year, compared to what we would get at Pick 10 this 2017 draft?

I don't think so.

I think talk of "superdrafts" is rubbish, but if it were a "superdraft", surely you'd get good talent well into second-round picks. Otherwise it's not a "superdraft".  ^_^

If you're in the squad at 21/22 years old then it's fair to assume.

Adelaide are in no position to negotiate. Either take what Melbourne gives you or the kid walks into the draft and Melbourne get him for free.

Trelor was worth 2 first rounders. Lever is no where near trelor. Giving Crows 1st and 2nd round picks imo is still overs.

So it would also be fair to assume that as Oscar has been a regular player in his second and third year in the AFL system, that he does in fact ‘belong on an AFL field’.

We'd get him for free?  Or we'd have to use pick 10 in the Draft?

Treloar was 2 first rounders and a 2nd rounder back.

However, Collingwood's first rounders were something like 6 and 8?

Melbourne's are going to be 10 and 12-14 (hopefully).

Lever is a Key Position Player, harder to find than midfielders.

Edited by Watts Jurrah Dunn?

Is Lever really worth 2 first round picks, to me that's overs Melbourne should threaten to let him nominate for the daft and put Adelaide under pressure then they get nothing

Not worth a 4th rounder. Will never be any good!

*I reserve the right to change this opinion once the deal is completed ?

Someone's daft alright.

This was talked about on SEN yesterday. They said Level is on par if not ahead of Rance when they were at the same age.

Absolutely has the potential to be a 10 year, A grade defender for us.

You can do that with so many players over the years though. The truth is, we won't know until Lever has played a similar number of games as Rance in his prime, and a similar age.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
