Agreed pick 10 is fair

Always was....and change possibly.( Swap of picks )

10 AND 27 is bloody generous.

Adelaide, gone from Grange grandeur to Goon grumps.

More than fair for a bloke that didn't figure in their top ten in their B&F!

What about this scenario:

We pull our offer and only offer pick 10 based on BF performance. Crows chuck the sads. JL announces he is going into the draft a la Luke Ball and will only play for the Dees, otherwise will sit out the season. No other side will take the risk and he comes to us at 10 either way.

That would be draft tampering. The rules have toughened up on this. More than likely Lever and MFC would be heavily penalised

When Lever said - 'I will go into the draft' - we gained leverage. When we found out about how the Crows acted when meeting with Mahoney and Viney we gained leverage, with him being disinvited from the B+F we gained leverage (perception in press only - makes it harder for them to stonewall), and when he polled outside the top 10 we gained leverage.

ND10 and ND45 or a pick swap in the second round.

We acted in good faith with offering a fair trade and their petulance should not be rewarded.

Pity we already showed our hand and said we will offer 10 and 27. Overs in my opinion

As rpfc has mentioned above, our deal can and should now be altered due to the circumstances that have played out since Jake nominated us.

Fug 'em.

Difficult to do when you've already shown you are willing to offer two picks. Easy to do if you'd only offered pick 10 for example.

Basic negioation tactics

I'd now say, we have thought about this, it's now P10 or he goes to the draft. Stop F-ing us around, we mean business.

After seeing this, who would want to play for or stay at Adelaide? I genuinely hope this little display costs them Rory Sloane next year

I'd rather be a club of our word. We offered it so we should stick with it. We don't want to stoop to Adelaide's level. All the clubs are watching it too

I think you're making it basic mate.

We're getting fugged about by the Crows and the player who wants to come to our club is being treated like he was some type of cancer.

They're changing the goal posts so we should too.

No but it might to their sponsors, influential financial members and Board.

At the start we were the bad boys for taking the young future star, but it has turned and the media is now lambasting the Crows for their petulance and arrogance and that hurts the brand.

We have made the offer, we now say we might be able to help you get Francis or another player, for part of the same deal, otherwise the offer remains and won't be increased.

The Crows refusal of that offer, given the last few days Crows' behaviour and his non appearance in the top 10 of the B& F will make Lever's price drop and make the Crows look like a non destination club to other players and managers.

I don't disagree with any of that but it does not alter the fact their supporters will be cheering from the sidelines. I hate this mob with rare intensity.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
