Call his management and offer him 4 years

2 with a trigger for 3 based on form/games played and whatever he doesn't do as a player as an assistant coach.

This deal is not dead.  Jordan is very upset with Hawthorn for putting him up for trade.  He was told by Clarkson he was going to be traded and cracked it. The Hawthorn Board (in an emergency meeting) then overruled it.  However, Jordan is feeling he has lost the support of the coach and is now considering walking. As we speak he is weighing up where to play out his career. Melbourne or Hawthorn.

The agreed trade will cost the Dees very little should Jordan Lewis decide his days in brown and yellow are over.

Come on Jordan walk and win a Premiership in the Red and Blue!

Lewis is willing to be traded to show how upset he is about being up for trade.

I'm unensthused by Lewis.

I am too.  He's as slow as a wet week.

However our list is young, emerging but immature.  Lewis' leadership outweighs his decline in skills, speed or fitness in this instance.

I'd prefer recruiting his type in a year's time, when we might really be threatening, but who's to say we are guaranteed such success ?  The Geelong and Carlton games prove the list still needs some direction.

So if Lewis comes across are we then like a ... "destination club"?

Typical journos making a story out of a non story.

Lewis is staying put now that the Mitchell trade has gone trough.

The Hawks were obviously hawking, pun intended, a few of their aging stars around hoping some desperate saps would bite. The eagles bit first. Now the Hawks have shut up shop.

The two arent connected.  If Lewis wants out, he is leaving.

He is contracted. The Hawks still need to play ball. Do we really know that he is so disgruntled now or is it just wishful thinking.

Discussions in progress as I type...Jake Niall just commented on SEN

If that's the case then Lewis wants out and will more than likely happen.

If Lewis now wants to go I can't see Hawthorn making him stay.

The 2 clubs would not be talking at this moment if he did not want out!

You can't have it both ways.  The hawks can't tell a contracted player to seek other options then enforce the contract because they changed their mind.  The ball is in Lewis' court.  He wants to go...he's gone.

The best thing about this is they can't ask for much currency because apparently he wants out, and they just shipped off Mitchell for a packet of chips.

Are they actually talking or is this just media hype creating a story where there is none anymore?

I'm not saying they weren't talking yesterday, I'm questioning whether they are still speaking?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
