For me it would be:

Hogan re-signs long term

We get Hibberd for our second round pick

Add an experienced player, who can contribute on and off the field, as a DFA or as part of another deal.

Offload players who aren't going to make us better going forward - Dawes, Terlich and Grimes head that list.

I don't think we'll do much more than that this year.

If we get Hibberd, you have your point 4 and some are forgetting we get another experienced player in Melksham as well, understand the off field, but think that is fairly settled now, everybody on the same page

Caught out...lol...i misread the trade, i'm happy to admit when i'm wrong, but you did say output is similar. I stand by what i said, their output is not even close, nor is their value, Matt Jones is worth nothing, insult away Stuie

I actually think Matt Jones is worth something.

To us only though.

Melksham to be available.

Hibberd trade for pick 27.

Zac Clarke in as a DFA.

Garland to Lions for pick 48.

delistings: Dawes, Grimes, Terlich, Newton, Michie (r), King(r).

Wagner and M.White retain as rookies.

3 National Draft Picks 45, 48, 63.  Hamish Brayshaw (mid/fwd), Corey Lyons (mid) Jack Henry (tall mid).

2 Rookie Draft Picks 8, 26.   Lachlan Dalgleish (pacy outside runner), Declan Kielty (key position back)

Deledio could be on the way out of tiger land. Not sure how much the cost would be but would hope we are asking the question

Starting to get the feeling that with Hibberd and Melksham to add, we might just try and upgrade our picks a bit, by trading a couple of players and then concentrate on developing the talent we have, as well as bringing in another few draftees, who have more potential than those being traded out or delisted.

We also have Salem to add to the side, who hardly played this year as well.

Most realistic so far, though the first one is anyone's guess, but all of our hopes.

I just want someone with great outside run and carry.

No idea who fits the realistic tag there.

I would be happy with that.

Set ourselves for the draft next year (good draft) to keep regenerating the list and target a quality free agent in 2017.

Don't know but reckon Hogan  will be "Of like a Brides Nighty"

if so, how will that change the trading landscape??

Is that a comparison between Hogan and pyjamas?

Is there any reason for not including Hartlett in the voting choices? Not to mention Kielty (as late pick or rookie)?

I'd be happy with either Hartlett or Lyons. I doubt we'd get them both, but you never know.

On t'other hand, I'm not sure about the wisdom of using any more than 2 draft picks on trades. Some trade scenarios leave us almost without draft picks.

Hibberd, Hartlett & Lyons are probably all worth second-rounders, and I doubt that we've got anyone who's "realistically" tradeable (i.e. we wouldn't want to hold on to) in that range.

Pretty Dramatically.

would expect we'd be adding a couple of first rounders and a player potentially and that would give us far more scope to trade

If this happened and we got Freo's 2017 first rounder it could be an okay result because next years draft crop is supposed to be strong and i'd expect them to finish bottom 6 again

I have been dreading the potential of losing Hulk though looking at it we may be able to make a win out of it.

Pick 3 and some cream from Freo

On trade 3 to GWS for 15 and 17

Use these two first rounders to get HH and Jack Riewoldt and we would actually have a stronger team.

Preference is to keep Jesse though I'm not sure it is a toys out of the cott situation we all dread....

For the cream on the deal maybe get Clarke to fill the ruck hole!

I like the fact that you're trying to think outside the square, but we get shafted in that deal from the moment we send Pick #3 to GWS for Pick #15 and #17.  That's not a good deal at all and only serves to help make GWS even stronger than before.

We won't get both HH and Riewoldt for those picks either, as Richmond would at least seek much more than that for him as he is their premier forward.

Should have put that I don't think Clarke was the total cream just part of it.

Would be good to be able to get the 9 pick out of GWS instead of 17 or 19.  Was just looking at a quick scenario where we might be able to swap one first rounder into 2.  Ie Tyson and 9 Deal.  though being a weak draft clubs may not be so keen to jump up the order this year so tried to follow the realistic part of this thread

Think a late first rounder should go close for a player who just finished 17th in the club best and fairest in HH.

Jack would need something added to the deal with the tiges, but would give them a late first rounder to trade for Prestia which would reflect his Talent vs Injury and they would then keep pick 6.

I mentioned this scenario in another thread, but I say we ask much more for The Hulk. Two first round picks. Then try to muscle in on O'meara or Mitchel.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
