Here:  http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-10-16/trade-wrap-motlop-set-to-stay-at-cattery

"The proposed deal that would send Hawks Billy Hartung and Brendan Whitecross to the Brisbane Lions for one of the Lions' early second-round picks, No.16, No.19 or No.21, is no closer to being finalised and could fall over...The clubs still can't agree on elements of the deal, and one source close to the negotiations expected the proposed trade would be abandoned, a turn of events that would further complicate the Hawks' negotiations with Gold Coast on Jaeger O'Meara".

Quite amazing if Hawks lose Mitchell and Lewis, take a huge whack in their PR and supporter backlash, then not get there BIG FISH, JO'M.

While its fun to watch the Hawks reputation as smart operators getting a bit tarnished, I'm sad for O'Meara.  He is the meat in the sandwich.

That's the one. Thanks, LH.

Breaking news,  Hawks trade whole team to facilitate JOM trade!

Wow! going to have to get Bruce, Neitz and Yze out there because they have no other players.

surely they can't offer him to the Suns and then say, nah you're a required player bud.

Lewis has every right to feel pretty miffed i reckon.

He put himself there though. If he'd nominated a club with better picks and less salary cap pressure, he wouldn't be in this position. It's a situation at least partly of his own doing. I don't feel sad for him at all.

The article on Lewis also mentioned that the Hawks are, potentially, going to trade Hartung and Whitecross to the Lions for Pick 21, which they will then on trade with Pick 10 for O'Meara.

No pressure on the new boys at all...

none at all....

they're spiralling vvvvvv

The name that blisters the tongue to say it....

buckle up

I just was Facebook messaging the Facebook page - Zanotti Files. He posted a rumour and was very adamant that his sources were correct in saying Rockliff will be a demon. Read what you like from it..

Posted the pics on Might Dees fb group but the screenshots I took are too big to upload so I'll just copy the convo in here

Me: Hey Zanotti. What are your thoughts on the Rockliff to Melbourne situation?

Zanotti: From our source it's almost done. Lions paying portion of his salary
The only stumbling block will be if a team swoops in late to pay his full salary and he agrees to go
.

Me:  Ok. Mark Robinson tweeted earlier that he hadn't heard anything. The original rumour came from DemonLand (Melb forum site), and the poster claimed it had come out of the mouth of his uncle who is apparently very close with David Noble, who supposedly said it himself. If you don't mind me asking, who are your sources?

Zanotti: Can't reveal exactly who but it comes from inside Melbourne's 4 walls.

Me: If you had to call it now, do you reckon it'll happen

he then forwarded me a message that supposedly was from his sources

Zanotti: Just don't release the info until maybe tomorrow morning? Because although Lewis is 100%, Rocky is about 99.99%. I think for the pages sake, wait until tomorrow when rumours start flying around.
But in the end, you're call!

Me: when did you receive the info?

Zanotti: today. Getting an update tomorrow

Me: how have you had access to these sources?

Zanotti: I'm just someone that luckily has stumbled across some people in the right places.

I then went on about how it could be big for him if he's right, but backlash if he's wrong. He then said -

Zanotti:

Haha.. we get the info and pass it on.

Had Mitchell and Lewis spot on.

Considering the source we have we'll at least get an explanation if it falls over..

Comes with the territory though!

take what you want from it guys...

Mate, when I'm lying in bed and can't sleep, I lie still and think about Brayshaw running through the guts at the G on a sunny afternoon and hitting a leading Hogan laces out.

Ive so moved on from that scumbag, his legacy will take us to much higher places.

Mind boggles....happily....but boggles.

I thought we were just getting Hibberd !!!

And then Zanotti went to the court house and got a restraining order against you and Iived happily ever after.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
