I really hope not.  Thats the attitude that will see the club go nowhere.  

We absolutely should be pursuing deals and going after the likes of Rockliff, Motlop and others. 

Our list has potential, and thats all it has for the moment.

Yes, Rockliff would be nice.

But what one of you not yet developed players would you give up for him.

The state of our list means that the players that have currency are potential A graders, I don't think we will give them up.  

It is just where the list is at.

I personally think we should ( obviously this won't happen ) make a massive offer to Issac Heeney, 5-6 year big $$ deal! kids an absolute super star in the making and he's never going to get that sort of $$ at the Swans.

That attitude won't get us far when every other club is improving there lists.

I would like to see us try to pick off a GWS player or two on the cheap. Pickett for a future first rounder with some excess GWS picks in the 20s sent back would be a win

It depends if we take the Hawks or the Dogs (early Cats) model, the Hawks did well with younger players then topped up heavily, whilst the Dogs developed their own (yes I know about Boyd).

I think the mantra might have changed from needing to bring in an A grader to being happy to develop our own A grader and filling needs around that. Says to me that the coaching staff have lots of faith Hogan, Viney, Trac, Gus, Oliver, Macs etc. are going to be those A graders without needing to sell the farm to get one in.

If Heeney were on the table, and wanted to come to the MFC, i'd offer up a deal of say two first round picks ( obviously this would most likely happen in 2017) so our 2017 first rounder and our 2018 first rounder and maybe steak knives if need be. 

good clubs find a way to bring in good players without sacrificing their core group, can't be scared off from trying to bring in the best players because the Swans might ask for one of ours.

The Lions have handed over picks No.2, 31, 51 and 60 in exchange for pick No.3 and No.16 from GWS. 

Could the delay with the Hibberd deal be preventing us from doing a pick deal as well?

Heeney's exactly the type of guy I'm hoping we make a play for at the end of next year. Agreeed though, not sure if we will since we never seem to include ourselves in these conversations.

we're in the position to do it, Hogan has re-signed, we've got all our good young players locked away, we'll have two strong first round picks next year and we can offer significantly more money than the Swans can, and i think in all likelyhood both Melbourne and Sydney will be top 8 teams next year. 

if not Issac Heeney, Josh Kelly or Nat Fyfe or someone like that. 

we are ready to bring in a genuine A grader.

The club's strategy seems to be to back ourselves to develop our stars in house rather than pay a single player the "premium for moving" you need to get players to consider going.

Well, I'm telling you he won't be surplus to our needs. Vince and Jones won't be around forever and at this stage, IMO, Tyson is ahead of Viney despite the BnF result.

We're going to need more mids in the future, so we won't be sacrificing the top mids that we do have to get other top mids.

Oliver, Petracca and Brayshaw are talented, but none are ahead of Tyson at this stage, they might go past him but i still genuinely believe Dom will be/is a very good player.

Seems odd that we aren't publically looking at hrovat, stevens, lyons, motlop. They'd all have a spot on our list IMO.

Stevens has reportedly named the Saints as his trade destination, Motlop I think doesn't fit our "competitor" mindset.

The other two blokes I'm definitely keen on though.

They are desperate to get him and his $800k out of the salary cap. They are interested in Dunn, that could be one component. Next year's second pick or something we get for something or somebody, could be another component, pick swapping could be another.

IF we want him he is gettable.

They would have to back Goody, McCartney, Egan, Viney and Jones to ensure buy in.

He is not just a mid who can rack up multiple possies, he is also a good contested mark and goal kicker. In our side with all the new talent, he could be a great addition.
