Did anyone hear Plough's list analysis on us last night?

To sum it up, he said it is the best list out of teams outside the 8. Thinks we have a good chance of finals next year and should definitely play finals in 2018.

Said the group still lacks maturity. We are addressing our need with Hibberd. Lack of maturity got exposed in the last 2 weeks. Still need someone with class and elite kicking skills.

At the end, Damian Barrett said he believed that Melbourne could still throw another curve ball in this trade period.

Thoughts?

Here's the audio too:

Have you examined O'Meara? Have you seen his medical file? As someone who works in the fitness industry surely you'd know every situation is different, and you would know how credentialed and experienced a senior doctor for an AFL club would be.

As far as the "out for 2 years" thing goes, he did actually come back this year but when he experienced soreness they took a conservative approach in order to get him right for 2017. He was looking sensational before that too.

I would back in the Hawthorn doctor on this one and say that given he was confident enough to tell the Hawks to go for it then there's a pretty decent chance he can get right and play some good footy.

Of course, I'm not sure what you would have said if we had traded Gawn for say Maric back in the day... ;)

Look Stuie you're missing the point.

can you be 100% sure there is no risk to O'meara, as you said you can't, the Hawks are clearly backing themselves to get him right, good on them,  i am questioning trading Shiel, not bringing in O'meara.

they need to re-build their midfield, i reckon giving away a good-very good midfielder for a very good but injury prone one isn't the way to do that, just my opinion

i'd much rather see them trade Bruest for example who i see as less essential if you like.

but this has nothing to do with the Dees

I'm not missing the point mate, I'm saying I'd back in the doctor of the most successful AFL club in the country to get it right in regards to bringing in an extremely talented midfielder and that, given that, there's very little chance he will "retire without playing another game".

You've got to trade something good to get something good, Demonland sometimes forgets that this time of year.

Simply saying i wouldn't do that trade personally, just my opinion.

Fair enough mate! I do get where you're coming from, you're a "play it safe" man. I'm just a fan of O'Meara in full flight.

He's a bloody good player when fully fit, my concern is that the Hawks need to re-build their midfield and giving up one of the only good mids of the right age profile they have seems like it would be a bad result, especially given risks and so on.

if they could get the deal done with another player i reckon they should jump at it.

I don't understand why they rate Bruest so highly within the context of their whole list. How many small forwards does a club need?

Damien Barrett reporting that the Tigers are asking for Josh Caddy in a swap for Brett Deledio,

must say i don't rate Caddy as any more than a solid B grade player and a fully fit lids is definitely an A grader, but his age and Salary are a concern in that deal

thoughts?

Tricky one because as you said you have to take age and salary into it.

Do you take a player who has 3 years left at say 700k, or one who has 8 years left at 500k? In Richmond's situation, I'd be going for Caddy if it was as simple as a choice between the two players.

A fully fit Lids takes so much pressure of Dangerfield and Selwood and i don't think the loss of Caddy will be hugely missed, so i reckon it's win-win, given the Cats are chasing a flag and Lids might get them over the line, and the Tigers are probably 3-4 years away yet.

Salary and Salary cap for the cats being the biggest hurdle

Kind of strange. There'd be others the Tiges would have enquired about, surely. Caddy is thoroughly underwhelming.

Yup, point is I have been spared the horror of listening to two weeks of Barrett and Wallace dribble on before all the trades get done in the last 2 days.  Thanks Mr Mahoney!

Well he's not much more than an ordinary footballer and he's a very ordinary bloke.

If I were a Richmond supporter and that ended up being the trade I'd be really pi$$ed.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
