Richmond the front runners for Cloke, exactly what they need to get back to playing finals next season..

You can always rely on Richmond to top up with spuds.

They really over rate their list...amazing decision if true.

Didn't you hear? they are playing finals next year! Gotta top up with Cloke. After this years form their window is clearly opening.

They want to replace Ty Vickery who won't run, ruck or chase with Travis who can't run, ruck or chase.....

... or else they might not make the finals next year!

It's hilarious that this thread is still around. I apologise to all Demonlanders for adding to it and keeping it alive.

I very much hope that he signs with Richmond.

I'm convinced the entire club is some sort of long-term psychological study on the human capacity for self-delusion.

Richmond want Cloke? Oh, my God... they are the club that just keeps giving.

A bit like when you think Trump can't go any further off the deep end, he finds a way to surprise you.

I'd rather have Cloke on our list than Dawes.

If we can trade Dawes to Brisbane for a pick, then trade that pick onto the pies for Cloke, I'd be totally fine with that.

He'd take some attention away from Jesse and Jack, until Weids is ready.

No to Trav & no to Trav's dad.

Neither would be better.

The footy gods will hopefully deliver them both to Richmond for the laughs.

Finally someone that agrees with me!!!!

Weids is a good 2 years off decent footy cloke can fill a void and take pressure of Jesse.

Cloke will be a much better player once he gets out of Collingwood. Having a boss / coach who doesn't rate you destroys your confidence and your enjoyment of your job.

I'm not saying we should go after him, especially for the salary he will want, but I'd be surprised if he doesn't have a markedly better season in 2017 if he can get to a decent team with a decent coach.

Both Dawes and Cloke are deadwood. One can't kick, other can't get his hands on the ball.

Collingwood supporters are talking first round draft pick for Cloke or trade for Rance. It's madness dealing with this mob.

Saw him at the Coles Express filling up his Holden Ute.

Young footballers on hundreds of thousands a year, and this bogan buys a ute?

No.

This says more about you than it does about Cloke

Stevens says Cloke for Lin Jong. Massive win for Collingwood.

That is daylight robbery for Collingwood. No way are the Bulldogs that dumb.

...oh, they did put Tom Boyd on $1M a year after his debut season. Maybe they aren't as smart as I thought.

Depends on the details. If Collingwood pick up a chunk of Cloke's salary then they get a ready made replacement for Redpath who is out for a year with an ACL.Takes a bit of the heat off Boyd as well.

Jong is expendable at the Dogs. Their midfield stocks run deep. I expect they will be gearing up for a serious crack at the title next year while Murphy is still playing. So if you add Cloke, who would be structurally important, a returning Crameri and perhaps convince Boomer to have his last hurrah with them, that forward line looks a lot more potent.

And Cloke was okay on Sunday. Interestingly he seemed to mark with more surety when he removed the glove (after quarter time I think).

I'd do it if I were Footscray. Better Cloke for that role than Butcher or Vickery

Cloke is slow at best, very few good games left in him. Is the Dawes thread next?

Would be 30 by the start of next year, deffinalty an upgrade on Dawes and Pedo and wouldn't cost the world... Could be worth it on a 2 year contract while Weed fills out a bit more?

No way.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
