Baker kicks his third and it is now 104 points.

Kennedy kicks a behind on the siren for a 105 point win.

We have a fair bit of depth and we have basically played 16 AFL players every week. If you think about it, today we have 6 first round draft picks playing in Treners, Grimes, Salem, Dawes, Dunn, Kennedy. You dont really see that at VFL level week in week out. Plus in other weeks we've had Oliver, Brayshaw, and Weiderman.

Dawes and Kennedy weren't first rounders were they?

Late goals to debutants Aloysio Ferreira and the Time Lord, Tom Baker (x2) see Casey stream home by 105 points!

Baker replaced Tim Smith, a late injury withdrawal before the match.

Casey Scorpions 5.8.38 9.16.70 16.20.116 21.25.151

Werribee Tigers 4.1.25 5.4.34 6.4.40 7.4.46

Goals

Casey Scorpions Baker Dawes Kennedy-Harris  3 Neal-Bullen Salem White 2 Ferreira Grimes Kennedy Munro Spencer Trengove

Werribee Durdin McKay Mountford 2 Jacobs

Best

Casey Scorpions Trengove Michie Grimes M Jones Kennedy-Harris Neal-Bullen

Werribee Hanson Gribble McFarlane Tippett Nielson Hibberd

Disposals M Jones 42 Grimes 41 Neal-Bullen 37 Michie 35 Trengove 30 White 29 Kennedy 27 Kennedy-Harris 26

Williamstown's loss today to Footscray means that the Scorpions and Collingwood VFL fill the top two spots with the Seagulls a game behind and a bye coming up which will make it hard for them to get a home game in the first week of the finals.

BenKen was 19 (I think that was still in the first round that year) and Dawes was 28 (my bad). Although didnt we give up a 1st rounder for him? Anywho, main point was that we have a fair bit of VFL talent.

Super win today given we were missing most of our usual tall forward targets from this year in Weed, Hulett and Kielty, and I didnt hear Tim Smiths name called, did he play today?

Few players there who aren't knocking on the door, they are smashing it down.

It's going to be hard telling some of them that they're not getting promoted, on the other hand it will be hard telling someone in the one's that they are going back to Casey.

Thanks KC and all posters another great win for the club and the players. Go Scorp's!!! go Dee's. two great weekends in a row can we take the pressure, Wahoooooooooooooooooo!!!

Wow, things looking very promising at Casey.

Those at the ground, care to comment on Joel Smith.  Really like the look to him as a player.

at least they can look forward to finals and possibly a premiership

JKH will eventually oust Garlett if he continues to be ……………………. !

So looking forward to the VFL finals.

Really hope JKH and Salem continue to finish the year off strongly.

A comprehensive win by the Scorps.

Just as happy to also see Trengove and Kennedy finish the year off strongly as well (plus ANB)! We might need a bit of depth if we manage to make it to the finals.

Commentator has mentioned that JKH has been offered a three year contract by Carlton.

Jeez, this one comment set this thread off.  Who was it, what was their source, and how do we know it is even accurate?

many here are already trying to map out the trade.  Perhaps, if likely, it needs its own thread?

loving the pressure that success at both levels is creating on players.  Creating the habit of winning, building something special for Casey and Melbourne.  Go Scorps, Go Dees!

Melbourne and Casey are both in a rich vein of form and there are almost no injuries, I'm loving this.

I can't remember a year like it.

Possibly early 2000's when we were playing finals and Sandringham were winning premierships but not sure it was even like this.

Before Roos and PJ came along we were playing a VFL standard team in the AFL. Now we're playing an almost AFL standard team in the VFL.

I want Salem in ASAP for Harmes.

Great to see JHK back in some good form after a tough year of injuries. I think he has something to give at AFL level.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
